computer is getting painfully slow over the last few weeks  :(

its getting to the point where I have to refresh a few times to get a page to load up. tonight Im trying to list items on ebay and as i go to the sell page it stops and doesnt download the full page so I cant continue, does the same for photobucket, some things I cant get on at all :suspect:  :suspect:

boardroom isnt so bad and 95% of the time page loads up ok as do other sites  ???  ???

Ive just defragmented and deleted temp int files. this is about the extent of my knowledge on computers going slow. what else can I check ?

Get Ad Aware and run that, have yougot lots of things in the icon tray (bottom right next to the time)..

Not fantastically fast but OK and shouldn't be as noticeable as you say at those speeds.  Windows Prefetch can cause issues like this I believe.  Download a utility from here to sort it.

Ccleaner clears all the temprary crap that gets stored.

If they don't sort it then could be spyware or a virus.  Have you got any anto-spyware and anti-virus software?  Or a firewall?

Another good point to remember is if you don't shut your computer down fully (sleep, hibernate etc) it can run slow...  After a while.

A restart is a wonderful thing...

Ive restarted it a few times and no different, when I first got this computer it was really quick  :(

9 is quite a few.

If there is stuff like tom tom update, channel 4 od, and other programs in there you can right click and close them...  frees things up a bit...

But nothing that you are using...

do you use internet explorer or firefox? unless u have an apple, if so saffari is it?

They should have options to clear private data, i.e. cookies, temp files, cache etc.. - try that.

Whats the spec of the computer? Also do a windows update maybe, and get the latest version of the browser you are using.

which broard band you use? if using virgin media do you have the old "big" box. the new ones are smaller and say virgin media instead of ntl on them. these tend to break, if you keep getting cut off then it's on it's way out too.

How are you connected to the net? Wireless? whats the router, and card you use?

Hope that helps, Dan :D

Well the nokia thing probably doesn't need to be on... but apart from that there is nothing sapping there...

No firewall tho?
