SparkyB Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Hmmm, a heavily whining engine might be a bit of a problem.... Quote
scruffythefirst Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Panic over, its the throttle body gasket leaking. So geometry tommorrow, replace gasket, do 100 mile shakedown, oil change and make the ferry with time to spare. Quote
chazpowerslide Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 So that's the plan anyway.............. Quote
scruffythefirst Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 If you don't have a plan to start with, you'll never know where you f****d up Quote

samcooke Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Well, he turned up at mine yesterday night - in the Dax - so it's obviously working enough to travel 20 miles. Quote
markcoopers Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Ut always did 20 miles, it was the 40+ bit that was a chalenge. Plymouth from you, Follow the sun and when you see the sea on your left turn right and on your right turn left....can't miss it Quote

oioi Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Any updates? Has he managed to trash the ferry? last i heard he was taking a fellow tourer to find a garage that could remove some stripped thermostat housing bolts. (for clarity the stripped bolts are on trevors car, not hughs) Quote
scruffythefirst Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Yup, made it to foreign climes, gave it a 1000 mile spanner check today and found one loose bolt (the fact that it was the one holding the steering column to the rack is of no consequence). Managed to find some eye protection in a local ski shop so can now drive without going blind and got trevors water pump housing sorted. All in its going well with nothing a bit of pre tour organisation wouldn't have cured. Although if I'd got a cateringvan I might have had to fix it at the top of a mountian.... Quote
