Liam Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 That was Verity the best three-day track day ever. Brilliant weather. Cracking roads and faultless hospitality from Barry and Sally and Verity. A weekend filled with the fruity smells of burning rubber, brakes on the point of combustion and cowsh*t. Thanks to Mark for organisation, Cecil B de Powerslide for the the kinema, Sparky for not snoring, Sam for frequent demonstrations of how to push a car with no reverse gear, Chris F's alternator and Verity Did I mention Verity................... Quote
SparkyB Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Aye was cracking fun, though the A45 being closed and me then getting lost in Northampton took the edge off the the Sunday. Highlight for me was coming down the road to a roundabout to find sam had overcooked it slightly and was sitting in the middle of the road Didnt get that one on film though Cheddar Gorge was something else ... Verity was pretty tasty too And best of all not a single car failure all weekend (up until we split up at least). Quote
scruffythefirst Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 QUOTE And best of all not a single car failure all weekend (up until we split up at least). We need details QUOTE Verity was pretty tasty too And pictures! Quote
samcooke Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 An absolutely fantastic weekend. And for the record : Nothing fell off anyone's car. No breakdowns. No incidents. Nothing. Other than a cross cylclist. And Verity. QUOTE me then getting lost in Northampton took the edge off the the Sunday Where did you go? Quote
Liam Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Verity was pretty tasty too And pictures! Suffice it to say that the last mile of Mark's trip was behind me (well, it was a change for him as he had been at the front all weekend) on the end of a tow rope due to a jammed g/box No photos - just a happy vision in an old man's memory Quote

I spoke too soon. Still, 700 odd miles on the limiter and only one breakdown at the end isn't too bad. Hope it's not too serious. QUOTE No photos And if you believe that... Quote
SparkyB Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I was following you guys through Northampton as you left the proper diversion route and then you did a u turn and left me behind! Scruffy, Liam tried to take pics.....believe me he reallly tried! MarkJ let down the side...boooo, my bet was on Sam breaking down Quote
scruffythefirst Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 QUOTE my bet was on Sam breaking down Everyone's was! Quote
Liam Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I was following you guys through Northampton as you left the proper diversion route and then you did a u turn and left me behind! Er, no you weren't. Mark and I bailed out at Blisworth and cut through to the A508 to avoid Northampton. You were too far in front for me too catch you in time (but I did try bl**dy hard!). It was a big disappointment to then find the A45 shut diverting us for miles back to the A14. Sorry about the Silverstone traffic hold up (didn't think Renaults were that popular) Quote
samcooke Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 QUOTE I was following you guys through Northampton as you left the proper diversion route and then you did a u turn and left me behind! Oh. Sorry. I noticed you'd gone, hung back for a bit, hung back a bit longer, and then decided you must've gone off your own route. Either that or stopped for another meal. Quote

samcooke Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 QUOTE my bet was on Sam breaking down Everyone's was! I think you'll find my car has only broken down twice in thee years, one was a snapped throttle cable and one a dislodged clutch due to poor adjustment. That's not too bad, is it? Quote

dabar Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Well i`m sure were all glad you got back safely, with no breakdowns....blah blah, but can we please get back to the fundamentaly important details of the trip, that you have all merely glossed over and that is.... Verity and pictures Graham. Quote
markcoopers Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Evening chaps, glad we all got home and all enjoyed it. Yes, I did break down.....less than 2 miles from home I smashed the gearleaver to a position hitherto never ventured and jammed the gears..properrrrr job. Couple of highlights for me comming home: 1) The first big hill out of waterrow (4 miles from Bampton), up and over into the hairpins at witherliscome. 2) passing the police bike at moderate pace 3) passing the Kawasaki at slightly more than moderate pace. Cheddar was excellent, as was the desent into Lynmouth from cantersbury hill, and the climbs out of Porlock and burbrook, but for sheer exhilleration the 14 miles to South Molton and back in a relatively short window of time will take some beating. But the two overall memmories will be liams' eyes/mouth overcome by Veritys magnetic t**s and Tim singing Rinestone cowboy under the influence of Helium.......classic. Oh and for the record Yvonne lost badly at Cricket, apparently "Devon were in a different league" (sally jackson). Quote
