samcooke Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Nah. We've already established there are no birds around so I'll just turn em inside out. Twice. Quote
T.G.G. Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I have a house in Kimbolton !!. Where abouts are you meeting, cant come on the trip but be glad to wave you off. Dont forget at 9am.the middle of Kimbolton will be crowded with people delivering rug rats to the School in 4x4s. If most people are coming from the east(St.Neots) through Gt. Staughton then just before Salford and Kimbolton, on the left is a large lay-by where Rev. Lancaster has his firework factory. If it helps I would be glad to get there early and stand in the road to show where it is. (or get run over).Just let me know if you need help. Tom. Quote
SparkyB Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Tis indeed a phone, wallet and keys kinda trip Sam, though I did get this infor from our resident Nudist, so read into it as you like I would have thought the roads would be a little clearer just after 9, I'll be approaching from the other direction (probably), is the layby before the private school (approaching from east?). Mark B Quote
T.G.G. Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Yes the lay-by is at least a mile before Kimbolton Castle. From the east take the B645 toward Gt Staughton, straight through G.T.(be carefull there is a sharp right hand bend in the middle)also watch out for the B i B.with their cameras. Out the other side long straight slight left kink then sweeping right, straight to the brow of a hill.Be careful this is a notorious black spot as there is a right turn just over the brow and in a Westy it will be almost blind for you, start to slow here anyway as the lay-by is on the left. scruffythefirst Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 QUOTE Are you back on terra firma then? I'd offer a passenger seat but Chaz has bagsied mine. Yup, back on land. Keep getting a stange desire to lash everything down but it'l pass. Appreciate the offer of a seat, but really don't have time to take you up on it anyway, 26 days and counting before LWTLM. So far I have a floor, a diff and some brake and fuel lines. AAArgghhh Quote
markcoopers Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Now then, I was not thinking of the packing with me nudist hat on. Lets say we meet at 9.30am in Kimbolton, I was just going to invade the main street and double park etc so that we all see each other. 9.30am will mean that we all miss wjhat ever traffic there is. On a serious note we will need clothes, wash stuff and a towel (hitch hikers and all that), cash and a good spirits. We are not camping. I'll have a route card for you all, but....i'm struggling with a good route from Kimbolton to Banbury/chipping norton, has anyone any suggestions? Quote
samcooke Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 QUOTE good spirits If the weather doesn't pick up we'll need plenty of those. Quote
Liam Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 The weather looks ok according to met office forecast (gale, what gale?) Maybe the odd shower on route Friday but fine Saturday for the naked blat across Exmoor worrying the ponies Are we meeting any neighbours (see what I did there) Quote
langy Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I'm sure you'll have a blast. I was possibly going to have a last minute change of mind, but i decided to change the cam belt and i'm struggling re-timing the engine again (is it 180 degrees out or not ) Sean Quote
Liam Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 i'm struggling re-timing the engine again (is it 180 degrees out or not ) Sean I don't think that is too difficult if only I could remember how. It's all about a bit of paper interferring with the optical sensor in the dizzy.....I think. Chaz will know. Takes about 30 secs from memory. Quote
scruffythefirst Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I can come and give you a hand if you get stuck. Piston at TDC, both valves for no1 cyl shut and the rotor arm pointing at no 1 plug lead should get you in the ball park. Quote
markcoopers Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 You can drive naked in a westfield if you want, I doubt the pony's will be even slightly worried by the size of it.... Anyone know if there is petrol in Kimbolton? (planning ahead) Quote

Piston at TDC, both valves for no1 cyl shut and the rotor arm pointing at no 1 plug lead should get you in the ball park. Been there, done that, snapped a spark plug and launched it across the garage Cool, relaxed Sean will be having another go tomorrow evening and a gallon of petrol probably won't go a miss Quote
ChrisF Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I wish I was coming along Have a great time guys Quote
scruffythefirst Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I've got a spare anchor in the garage if it goes really badly! Quote
