PeP Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Like summer in Buxton today A bit windy but not a cloud in the sky Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Wish you lot would shut up! I used to do the Snake (from ladybower) to Glossop. Turn left to Chapel-en-le-Frith. A quick blast up the A6 to Buxton and then over the Cat. Left at Macclesfield and left again at the lights (A54) and back towards Buxton. Then right onto Axe Edge to Leek. Through Leek and back towards Macclesfield then back over the Cat. Then along the A6 towards Bakewell but turn of to Tideswell and on through Bradwell and Bamford to home. About 180 miles and did that almost once a week as long as it was dry. Only thing I miss about the UK. ed to add that I forgot about stopping at the Cafe on the Cat on the way back. Great home made lunches. Quote

custardtart Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 how about the wirksworth to ashbourne road, usually quiet and a good pubs at either end? Quote
PeP Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 GRRrrrrrr! Got car out to wash it this afternoon and it hailstoned on it Oh well I can't use it till a week on sunday now because of work so the weather can do it's worst. Quote
bedlam age Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Me n the missus set off this morning at 8am! for good ol Brid in glorious sun shine and minus 30deg. temps. Braved it almost to Driffield before turning round frost bitten ( probably 50 miles out -another 25 to go ) to head back towards where the sun was.... York area. Anyway made it home, had HOT coffee then did the B & Q thing ( it's become a weekend ritual we go wether we need to or not and spend sh#t loads !!! ). Question: Why does every Scooby driver think they have the fastest car in the world? You'd think they would learn. Quote
TbirdX Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 dax have their open day this friday if anyone fancies a run out Saw 2 daxs today on my travels, got a flash from one on the Park inn roundabout, hello whoever you are 10 seconds earlier I'd been showered with hailstones, (top down obviously) and damn did they hurt! stephenh Posted March 21, 2008 Author Posted March 21, 2008 how about the wirksworth to ashbourne road, usually quiet and a good pubs at either end? Not a bad road, but I prefer the road up from Ashbourne to Bakewell, the B5065. Some nicve twisty bits, some nice scenery and enough straights to get past slow traffic now and then. Today's been better than forecast, so maybe Monday will be. Thanks for the ideas M8es. Quote
oioi Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 the ne7ers have a run out through the borders planned for tomorrow. up through kielder forest. should be interesting as its snowing in newcastle at the moment, so the hills will be nice and white. no bikers. no tourists just empty roads and 200 miles of top blatting. really looking forward to it i loooove driving the westie in the snow, its about the silliest and most childlike thing you can possibly do. spence Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Went out for a quick blast today and nearly got blown off the Sheppey bridge. Cross winds were a bit strong to say the least and nearly lost me woolly 'at. Not of my making. Good fun though, even though i froze me #### off. Quote
