probably should change to be one the safe side. How can I check it?

If you don't know when it was changed it would be worth changing it anyway

In addition to all the above if it's 10 years old it would be worth checking all the susupension bolts for tightness  (Wishbones, Shock mounting bolts etc)

Better to be safe than  sorry     :oops:

Yup, if you honestly cant say when (or indeed if) the cambelt has been done in the last ten years, then *it must* be replaced.

This is because the rubber degrades with age, as well as mileage (which is often forgot...!) :t-up:

...which he might have to do if he ignores the advice given about the belt :p

Happy to take all advice! I have a week off work, access to a decent set of tools (and good local suppliers) so plan on doing all the fettling needed for our honeymoon.

Now to track down the nearest ford parts supplier and somewhere for the zetec cooling hose...
