Im thinking of getting one for my car but would like to know your opinions first.

Cheers

In my opinion, it looks cheap :D

How about this:

Yes, it does look a bit cheap. But compare the features it has with other systems, then compare the price.

I worked out to get the same information from standard analogue gauges would cost more than than a Digi Dash 2.

FWIW, I think it is a superb system. Delightfully simple to install once you have identified all the wires, of which there are only twelve, and childs play to program and set up. Comes with compatible sensors for all channels so no b*******ing around with resistors trying to get other sensors to match.

Superb piece of kit, wouldn't be without mine.

Mines arrived in the post today. Well excited! I was wondering can I plug it into my computer without having it connected to the car loom? i.e. is can it power up from rs232?

I don't think "cheap" looking is the correct description as they're very nicely made, although I guess they do look a little toy-like compared to the all-in-one LCD screens that you get with the AIM MXL etc.

Ive got an original Digidash though and couldnt recommend it highly enough, nice and easy to read at speed which Im not sure could be said of some, and ETB provide a great after-sales service for servicing etc.

Very true. They are superbly made, just look a little 'Fisher Price My First Digidash'...

Olny just had mine and bought the retro fit loom as well.  It includes the switches as well. I guess when you add the cost of te bits up, and those din type plugs probably not cheap then I guess on balance probably is worth it. You could probably say a couple of quid if you did it yourselve but....

j30fos, Do you mean the Race Technology Dash 2 or the Digidash 2? I thought the group buy was for the Race Technology Dash 2? Not sure if we're all heading down the same track here...

I thought that's what you have Adam, so have I. But I think ChrisG and Martin have the Digidash2 so we are talking about different things. John, calls it digi dash 2 but refers to the group buy which may have set us off down different routes...  ???

I've just fitter an RT Dash2 as well, think it's great.

Adam - no it won't power from the RS232 unfortunately, but I ran mine from an 8xAA battery pack, which should last a few hours as the consumption is 0.25A.

John - if you don't get the WF loom you still get the 2 large round connectors with flying leads - WF just take this and add some other connectors, switches and resistors for the sensors, so take your pick. I used the WF loom, and with a couple of mods (non-standard sensors) was just the job.

I have loads of power packs that I could use actually, I was just wondering if it worked off the +5v but if not then I shall not bother as my loom is installed in the car and I have a car battery and so may  as well just connect up in the car rather than p*ssing about.  :)

Ah, if your buying one of them, then yes the plug and play loom is worth every penny, that or you'll spend hours b*******ing around with resistor trying to get the sensors to match.
