Mark Stanton Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 QUOTE So, a GTM is not a "get out of J" card then? Certainly not Mr H in a few years perhaps the GTM club may organise a sprint and Hillclimb championship maybe one day all kit car clubs might just organise a championship for their own relevant marque of car Quote
gordonandmaureen Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 i would agree the aquisition of gtm is a logical move but since both companies are under the same roof do they really need 3 directors ie 2 md,s & one non exec, director, sounds expensive to me! Quote
Blatman Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 How do you know how much they're being paid? Quote
custardtart Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 For me the interesting bit is the composite monocoque chassis, don't know what they're like in reality but it's impressive on paper ie. 1/3 stiffer than a lotus elise monocoque and v. light at 95kg, the lotus is 65kg but you have to add the bodywork. using this type of chassis could make some really exciting cars - imagine a westy with a chassis more than twice as stiff or a 4 seater coupe weighing 600kg? at the moment it's really only expensive supercars that use composite monocoques, for various reasons it's difficult to mass produce but it's ideal for low volume and would really set the kit car industry apart from mainstream. Sir Greg Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 The KTM X-bow uses a carbon fibre monocoque too. It's not hellish cheap but it's certainly not at supercar money. As the materials/tooling/development costs come down it looks like it could be the way ahead for low volume sportscar manufacturers. Quote
Blatman Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 FW400 was wet lay up, IIRC. If ever a car was worth resurrecting and "updating", that it. I'd love to see couple of FW's with Busa and Duratec/Zetec SE engines in... Quote
