Guest Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 On my way back from the garage down the a23, nice emptyish clear road, on my bike.... whizzed along... blue lights from the silver unmarked BMW behind me. I got into the car next to him, and he said my speed had reached *** maximum and i would get a ban for sure if it went to court. He said, "but because everything else is in order" and I have a clean licence, he would give me a £60 fine and 3 points at the lower speed of **, if i accept it.... to which i said "yes, i'll take it !!". I was then cautioned, issued with the FPN, and lectured about biker deaths on the road. Funny to feel relieved to get a fixed penalty notice. Fair play, no excuse. Quote
Sir Greg Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Looks like you were lucky enough to find a copper in a good mood. Still a bummer though..... Quote
Boomy Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Sort of a result then Still, the news was full yesterday of how many thousands of new 20mph zones the tree huggers want. All with cameras to enforce it of course, so you will probably be doing hard labour if you get caught again! Quite odd that only a few weeks ago, some council was suggesting that they were not going to pay anywhere near as much next year for their camera scam....oops, i mean scheme. All the drivers knew where the cameras were now and they were not making enough to cover what they needed to pay.Of course camera manufacturers and all those "safety" members who need to keep their jobs, were up in arms over this news. Deaths deaths and more deaths! I wondered therefore what would happen to get the cash flowing again and convince councils not to pull out.Offering a few boxes of quality street wouldn't be enough incentive, so what better way to make it seem like a superb money earner than by fining every tom dick and harry with a car yet again because they dared hit 24 mph due to not watching the speedo. Sorry for the rant, i just can't help myself can i? Quote
green-light-on Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Thing is Boomy your right we have our fair share of the things here we know where they are but somtimes your thinking about somthing and cant remember how fast you were doing past the last camera Gray. Quote
Boomy Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Talking of cameras (oh no!) i forget where i was now, but i drove past several jet black/very dark grey ones! The entire things were 100% black from top to bottom and blended in with various other grey poles. Not sure if they were light cams or what, but i didn't think that was cricket at all. All i could think was how good they would look in carbon fibre Oh, i also just took delivery of one of these.. oryZ36677QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Speed-C....iewItem Quote

pistonbroke Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 When they give out these road death figures , does it include all road kill Quote

cast iron Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I have started sticking rigidly to the speed limit, biggest concern is looking at the speedo more than the road, the advantage is a genuine 10MPG improvement in fuel economy, oh and I won't get nicked for speeding Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 The fines will go straight to central government coffers rather than to Lancashire County Council The point is now that the 'Partnerships' don't get the money any more. What that means for new camera numbers I don't know. Quote
Guest Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Apparently over 4000 rabbits have been killed on the a23 alone. Speed Kills. Quote
Mobsy Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 QUOTE Apparently over 4000 rabbits have been killed on the a23 alone. Speed Kills. Nah, it's the lack of speed that kills. If they were quick enough they'd get out of the way. Quote
