Gavin Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 OK this may or may not be true but it sounds about right to me. I was refused access to pubs twice last year as I was wearing an england Rugby top and was told by the door staff that I would cause offence to non English people in the pub and that may cause a fight, need less to say I just borrowed a jumper off of a mate to get in then took it off once I was in the crowd. I am British and was once proud ! I was wound up Saturday though when I saw a group of lads walking through the shopping centre wearing muslim extremist t-shirts ! Now why weren't they chucked out by security ? I know you could say there are double standards here but I think there is a huge difference in being proud of your country and promoting terrorism as that is blatantly what they were doing. Also at work myself and a few over drivers have had to put in a saftey risk card about some of the warehouses we go to as there are no English speaking staff and you can't explain to them the dangers when they are walking close to 12 tons of roll on/off waste container being loaded. I even had this at B+Q one early morning on the night shift. I have spotted signage in these places that doesn't even have english on it ! Anyway rant over or I'll get all wound up and ruin my evening Off to sign the petition. Quote
Muttleys V8 Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 This is the response from Mr Brown's Website today! he e-petition asking the Prime Minister to "to Allow the Red Arrows to Fly at the 2012 Olympics" is ongoing. This is a response in advance of the closing date from the Government. It is not true to suggest that the Government has banned the Red Arrows from celebrations to mark the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The organising committee of London 2012 will decide what to include in the celebrations - but with five years to go, decisions are yet to be made on what the celebrations will look like, although you can be assured that they will be a spectacular showcase of Britain's best. jeff oakley Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 As with all things from goverment you have to read between the lines. They haven't said they will be there, and they have said it will be the organising commitee that makes the decision. The organising commitee includes some fruit cake anti military types. So if they decide it is not appropriate the goverment can blame someone else. I hope I am wrong Quote
Blatman Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Nothing to read between the lines. There is NO decision yet either way. Once there is a decision, then it will be time for a protest... Quote
