steve_m Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 What a fantastic drive Not a single mistake, cool, calm, got on with the job and demonstrated excellent control and level of skill Where does a 22 year old get the the experience and skill to be so good ? If he carries on like this nobody else will get a chance Well done, excellent drive - lets have some more like this Quote
Martin Keene Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Unbelievable!!! The kid needs Knighting... As for what Kubica does for luck... I want some, I swore he was dead at one point... How many races did it take Schuacher before he won one? Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 How many races did it take Schuacher before he won one? 18 but he was driving a Jordan and then a Benetton. Still not taking it way from LH great drive Quote
neilb Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 wow, cool, calm and collected doesn't even begin to describe his majestic contol of the race weekend. He was a good boy in monty and played the team game and just setout to put the bar out of reach for the rest. Don't want to jinx his chances but I think he will be world champ very soon Quote
GlennB Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I agree - he drove fantastically well... A fascinating race - Kubica was very lucky. 48 points from 6 races isnt bad for Lewis. Another GP next week as well...... Glenn Quote

rob iles Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Excellent drive ,big cohones to keep it going all the way Especially with all the fracas going all through the race ,could be looking at a legend in the making. 6 podiums in 1st season must be a record Quote
Eccentric_Rich Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 ....and he's clearly rattled Alonso who was throwing his car off the track at every other bend! Great race and nice to see Wurz on the podium as he seems to be a decent bloke you could have a laugh with. Quote
nlash Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Will be interesting to see how the team handle Hamilton if he wins over Alonso a few more times. He is probably only on a fraction of Alonsos terms, yet if the points gap widens, what do the team do when Hamiltons agent (dad) starts to smell more pound signs? One thing is for sure, come midway through the season, if Hamilton has built a gap in the points table, new contracts will be written with Hamilton bumped to lead driver. Alonso then, would no doubt have to reconsider his position. Speculation I grant you, but the way things are panning out... who knows??? Got to hand it to McLaren, from practically nothing last year, they have designed a new car, stuck in two new drivers and they are blowing everyone else out of the water. Thats some achievement considering the run of performance they have endured since the days of Hakkinen Quote
Mark Stanton Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 There still wasn't exactly much racing though was there Yep sure Hamilton done all that was asked of him and showed maturity and calmness well beyond his years and credit is due Well Done But without drivers throwing themselves at the scenery and the course car being drafted in it was very much standard F1 procession I'll get me coat Quote
mark.anson Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Superb drive from Hamilton, bl**** well done. I too thought Kubica had been killed though, but it looks like he has got away with a broken leg. I for one wish him a speedy recovery, and hope he back racing soon. Mark Quote
CedricTheBrave Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I don't think money will ever be an issue he has been Ron Dennis's boy wonder for a number of years and LH owes him an lot. all the best for him I say and hope he stuffs it to Alonso in a proper race between them Quote
Major Stare Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 After todays race, i have thought of a new regulation to improve overtaking and thus making it more interesting for spectators. Every ten laps deploy a safety car for a lap, bunch the pack up and close the pits for 3 laps. Certainly made it more interesting Quote
jeff oakley Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 Agreed it was a very mature drive under pressure, how big would have been his victory without all the interruptions. As for his future, certainly he will not be on the same pay but his family appear to be good people and so far have kept his feet on the ground, and I suspect will be grateful to Ron Dennis in the future and will be looked after. It would be nice to see a bit of loyalty from a driver unlike Mr Button! I cannot see cash being a problem for LH now, likly to be the first Black world champion, and although colour has never been an issue being a first in any sport gives huge rewards especially one where white people have been all conqureing in the past. He has been likened to Tiger Woods before and look what he has done for the sport. It can only get better for him and for formula 1. And the rest of the race, well there was overtaking lots of it, the safety car added to the opportunities for others, Sato brilliant ( how must Honda feel when they cannot do what the Super Aguri team have) and the accident was a testamant to the strength of the cars. The only thing I want now is some balance in the commentary, "he has a yellow helmet like Ayrton Senna" so what? If we get anymore fawning it will be embarrasing. Fantastic result Quote
AR1961 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Jeff said it all really I just want to add....... 1. I thought Kubica was a gonna too. Lucky boy and awesome engineering. 2. How long did it take Button to win one? (I'm not a fan!) 3. Lewis is going to be a mega star but the Senna comparisons need to wait a while!!! Quote
