perksy Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 That's Nice work Wonder how long it took Some Nice cars 'Lurking' in the background aswell Good Find Boomy Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Boomy, they all look fantastic. But very bling bling. Fine if they're going in a musuem but after a 1000 road miles thay'll look as dirty as yours or mine. Quote
pistonbroke Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 I bet it didnt look that good when it was new Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Thats also very true. It's not what the serious buyers want. A 1950's GP Maserati, which had been raced and then locked away for 40 years was put up for auction a couple of years ago. It was a bit battered and even had oil stains down the side from the last race it did. Can't remember just how much over estimate it went for but over double springs to mind. Because it was original, not restored and certainly not over-restored. Mine looked "nice" when I photographed it after it's rebuild. It's done 1000 miles now and looks a bit "dirty". Just as it should. Quote
bill shurvinton Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 But you must admit that putting a BDA in a model A Ford is certainly, er different. Looking at the celica, is it 'over restored' or back as it left the workshop given the level of prep of a rally car? There are some hideous restos out there (Hitler's staff car in Vegas springs to mind where the suspension is chromed). Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Bill, different, but hardly in keeping with the Vintage, PVT and classic car movements. Quote
bill shurvinton Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Dunno, hot rodding early Fords is perfectly acceptable. Look at all the model Ts with flathead V8s. Quote
Westy1700 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 stunning work.....on a par with our own windy miller.....delta S4 for 430,000 euros !!!!!! some great machinery floating around as a back drop tho' Quote
Norman Verona Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Bill, Yes, accepted. I suppose it's the same reason I have no problem with what people do with 7's. Chapman made the car to be modified by its owners so, I suppose, anything goes. However a huge cast iron V8 sound right for a Ford model A, a BDA sounds like a bit of a waste. Quote
