These are some kind of spam bot by the way, not real people as such.

If you ever see such a thing on any forum, google the exact name and watch it crop up on loads of similar web pages.

We had them on another forum and it was exactly the same kind of thing (me no expert - can't remember exactly what they are called).

They came across as normal messages asking various questions on that forum.People were responding to them too which was a waste of time of course, but as i say, a quick google and the same user names were registered on shed loads of similar forums that used the same software with the exact same messages.

Ive just deleted a load of existing usernames so hopefully now should be reduced.

out of curisoisity how does that work - when you say existing - have they been there for awhile?

Not sure it possible to spam this site via a spambot (whatever that is) because you need to verify the email address that you use for registration before you can post. That's what Webbie Master was getting at earlier.

The registration could be manual, and then they just add the details to some software that automatically posts messages on a regular basis.

Also, given that there aren't a huge number of different forum software packages out there, it shouldn't be too hard to knock up something that did everything.

Christ, they are sadder than I first thought if they are writing software to do this sort of stuff...
