Pinto Boy
I've got a single Weber DGAV carb with a plastic filter box which pokes through an approx 190mm diameter holes on the bonnet. I'm thinking of changing to a Pipercross filter to improve air flow and as I can't get a replacment element for the current box. The Pipercross choices are a C4006 or C304D - which might need a little trimming to fit through the hole in the bonnet. Has anyone used either of these? Will the C4006 be suitable for a road car? I'm guessing that it is more free flowing than the C304D - does this mean more risk to the engine from unfiltered particulates? Thinking of buying them from Pipercross Filters based in Scotland. Does the club have a discount with them? Thanks
Big R
I haven’t experience of either of these filters, but from reading the descriptions I think I’d go for the PX300 which is probably adequate in terms of air flow and more robust. However, I think you would be better fettling the bonnet to fit the new filter, rather than adjusting the filter to suit the bonnet.
