We'd just had the winter of discontent, where rubbish was uncollected for weeks on end and even the dead weren't being buried. Inflation was in the high teens and rising and British industry was dead, it just hadn't stopped twitching. Funny how after the evil conservatives were removed from power and we've had ten years of Blair there are more people in the UK in poverty than ever before and the highest tax burden since records began. Yeah, Maggie really was evil. And breathe ....................... Ahhh Tubs The miners may have done badly out of Maggies policies, but the economy as a whole has done amazingly well. You have to break eggs to make an omlette (as harsh it is sounds). She intilled stability, and it is thanks to her that we have enjoyed a relatively good financial setting for the last god-knows how many years. The last time inflation was as high as it is now, interest rates were in double figures! Who has a mortgage and could still afford luxuries like a Westy if interest rates doubled? Gez Quote

The breakdown of family morals and lack of respect for authority, Be it the Father Mother or the Police. Resulting in the youth of today, (and the "Youth of the 70's" ) doing as they want and not what they should do. Bring back the birch, even have a correction officer at the school to administer it. Any one convicted of a crime, especially stealing should be made to pay back Twice as much as they stole...and if they don't, wall and bang! Anyone caught taking a vehicle should be put in the stocks in the town centre with a latrine fitted above him to be used by all and sundry, a nice place to empty the baby's nappy.... And if their caught again. hand on the anvil and little finger hit with sledge hammer, (don't want them claiming dole cus they can't work....) Castration is not enough for the sexual offenders....total emancipation...(Ouch) And anyone the likes of that guy who has admitted to killing and raping his 2 year old niece... should be taken down to the nearest tip and shot and bulldozed in with the rest of the crap! without the waste of public money for a trial! Had a trip or fall at work - then open your bl**** eyes and look where your walking. This attitude sums this country up nicely, it`s not my fault it`s someone elses, no one is willing to take responsibility for themselves. Same goes to the excuse of "he`s the way he is because he comes from a broken/poor home". RUBBISH, if that was the case britain during the second world war would have been in a right mess. I know plenty of people that have come from so-called broken homes and they have never gone round shooting/mugging people, it`s another cop out excuse thats now banded round by bl**** doo-gooder`s. Derby Allen Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 totally agree with Gromit (I'm poor though) don't have the HD thing, the culture of claiming come across form the great US of A, known as the ambulance chasers. i work in an industry close to the HSE where slip trip and falls are all they are now looking for, easy accidents, easy claims. all this is killing our manufacturing compared to other EEC countries, "dont forget we are all supposed to be playing on the same level playing field" NOT. We dont have a justice system and maybe thats the problem it seems to be there to protect the criminals and persecute the victims. The goverment are now trying to change the law so shoplifting does not carry a automatic sentance so someone can steal something from me worth thousends and im just meant to say "oh well" yeah thats justice well severed. I suppose I could also blame those that buy or subscribe/view the stuff too . the main influence is that this sort of news does nothing more than scare a lot of people and wind a lot more up !! I 'm sure that most here have encounterd some bad sh*t ,but does it really warrant the attention it gets ? Quote
