rgs_laverda
A good predicter of values would be the history of the original elevens. What happened to their value when the factory stopped building them back in the mid 80's? What are they worth today now that new ones are available? I would bet that they have shown a steady rise after the initial depreciation period. I believe that was the pattern for the cars in the US: the prices after the 1st owner dropped to their fair market value and they have held steady or grown slowly. As long as that holds true I can amortise the depreciation over the life of my ownership. The longer I own my car the less per year that the depreciation costs: at some point the fun factor equals the cost. After that happens I am in the black so to speak. As far as the new ownership and management team, time will tell all. It won't take long for them to show what their intentions are. Just judge them by their actions, not their words. It is easy to make announcements and the like about plans for the future, but give them some time and see what actually gets funded and reaches market. Then we will all know what their true priorities.
stu999
QUOTE A good predicter of values would be the history of the original elevens. I doubt whether the eleven could be used as an example TBH. The number of elevens compared to SE's are vastly different, as are direct rivals to the eleven (possibly one or two?), compared to rivals of the SE (I think Totalkitcar reported that there were 22 different sevenesque manufacturers). Things might be different in the US, but the above certainly holds true in the UK.
andy jacques
I had the same reservations as you. After lengthy convesations with Richard and the staff at Westfields,I was convinced that all will be well. I am proud to say I will be taking delivery of a brand new factory built Westie in March 07 and have every confidence that the factory will survive and thrive. The staff answered all questions no matter how searching ,frankly and honestly. They were great. I suggest you talk to them. All the best
cast iron
Why does it matter that the factory exists - look at the price of Rover Minis, they swap hands for silly money, a lad at work just sold a 10 year old mini mayfair for about £5K. Car manaufacturers don't make parts or supoort service parts after 10 years from the last one being produced, look at the value of Mk1 and Mk2 escorts. Westfields are specialist cars not your humble road car, factory or no factory, the price wont take a big hit IMHO.
combatsapph
QUOTE look at the value of Mk1 and Mk2 escorts. Hell, I even sold a good nick mk1 Sierra for £1200. Rare cars normally equal good prices.

Yeah, but everyone else and their dog supplies parts for Mini's and Escorts...
