Stupid fixation with BHP

Like said above,at 280 and at the lowest boost setting feels really quick but grip needs to be present :) with the right tires for the certain track or hillclimp road which am still practising as the full slicks are kinda slipery and getting grip with kumhos but i need more input from you guys what else i can try in our slipery asphalt.... now in my case its not a fixation,just the ability to turn the volume knob up IF needed :)

I have a 7' Gripper plated LSD and run either 15' 245 section Toyo R888's  or some Dunlop Rally slicks sometimes. Ultimately the slicks seem to offer more grip but take some time to heat up.  The Rally slicks are apparently road legal but they look well moooody to me!

Traction is fine in the dry in 2nd gear onwards.  You have to be careful in the damp and greasy conditions as it will BITE.

but I kinda like the scary side of it!

My ExigeS gets a bit boring on track with 240bhp as its TOO competent!

Thats the lsd am looking at the mo,like u said the 2nd does find a grip at this hp,so for know kumhos.....boring is a bad thing lol.What hp/torque you race it on a track?

1.5 bar at the moment. Noise has been the issue so far.

having a bigger exhaust made so hopefully be able to run over 2bar then more reguarly.

I would guess its over 400bhp/400lbft even with 1.5bar.

The gripper diff has been great.

I'd look at Titan as well if I was you.

Gripper works for sure though and is fine on the road as well.

it all depends on what you want from a car.

im probably one of the few who have gone for less power (rather than more). i sold a 215bhp westie and bought 125bhp (on a good day, with a following wind) sylva.

why?  cos i needed the money but still wanted a toy.

the first and foremost question is, do I have less fun with less bhp?  

answer for me is no.  one of the reasons for that is the rest of the car is balanced to the power, it has crap tyres, alightly too hard suspension for the road, is a live axle etc.  when i get out of the car i have the feeling of really driven it.  it has been peddled.  and thats a great feeling.

am i any slower?

i enjoyed the westie for its acceleration out of the corners, and i could be quick down a b road by being heavy on the brakes, tipping it in and a hooligan on the exit.  great fun and rapid progress was made. and when i say rapid i mean as fast as i thought was just the wrong side of sane. with the phoenix i am learning a different driving style.  momentum becomes all important and with that line through corner, minimal braking and early acceleration. on the road i am probably no slower (except through the really fast sections) but I am far more committed and far more on the edge.  its a more physical and challenging drive.  overtaking is annoying as i need a bigger gap, and therefore get stuck in traffic more.

It could be argued that im having more fun with less power going at a marginally slower speed - i have noticed that i have to wait less time for others to catch up than i used.

do i want to fit a 250bhp+ durabang to it?  of course i f**king do :)

Went from a 200+ hp Pintworth to a 165hp Zetec. Pintworth was epic when it was on song, but required constant fettling and was frighteningly expensive when it popped to rebuild. Zetec just works, all the time and is no hassle at all.

In performance terms the old car kills it in a straight line, but the new one is far, far better set up in every other respect. Around a track the new car is much quicker over all. Different characters though, the new car you have to drive with finesse, the old one you just brutalised around a track and dealt with it.

Both have their qualities, but I wouldn't swap the current one for the old one.
