Emma Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 News are now using the word stable before the word critical - does this mean a slightly better outlook? Hope its good news for Hammy and family. Best wishes to them all. Quote
rovership Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 We can only hope that this means he is improving. Best wishes to him and his family Quote
MVS Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Here's hoping he makes a full recovery. Chance's are he's being heavily sedated to prevent problems as in some of the big F1 crashes. So fingers crossed the news steadily improves as they bring him out. Quote
CrashBangWallop Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I hope he gets better without any hassle but, who is wanting to see the footage? Do you think it will be broadcast or will someone stick it on the internet before too long? Quote
JeffC Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 top bloke best wishes to him and his family Quote
adhawkins Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Agreed, very sad news. Looking at the footage being shown currently of the car at Elvington, it looks like it is pretty much intact, so hopefully that's a good sign. Andy Quote
scott beeland Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 News are now using the word stable before the word critical - does this mean a slightly better outlook? Not necessarily. Too early for the neurologists to make any predictions yet I'd wager. Usual form is to sedate/paralyse for 48 hrs to let any brain swelling stabilise before 1st attempts at waking. Hopefully the Hamster will be one of the lucky ones Quote
Mike dB Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I hope he is one of the lucky ones! I like them as a trio & he's great on brainiac! Quote
dean6767 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 wishing the wee man the fastest recovery for the sake of his family.Keep it real!!!!! Quote
neilb Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Richard Hammond is improving is the latest hopefully things are going the right way Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I can not believe some of the crap, ****e & cynical drivel some people have commented on this thread. What is wrong with you people? You really p*ss me off. There is a human being laid on his death bed in hospital after a 300mph crash who's family and friends are beside themselves, wondering if the hell he's gonna make it. You idiots are making fun of a life and death situation. You really need to get your heads from your self righteous arses and have a bit of compassion for someone who has a family that know he may not make it and if he does may not be fully functional once he is up an running What the hell has happened to a bit of compassion and humanity….. I notice that you all wound your necks in once you started to get a bit of stick: PATHETIC. 10 out of 10 to the rest of you who have given support Buzz RANT OVER Quote
robthehungrymonkey Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Very sad. My favourite charactor on my favourite programme. Feels way more "Personal" than any celebrity accident before, can only imagine what the family are going through. Let's hope it's a speedy recovery. Quote
Phil. S Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I hope he gets better without any hassle but, who is wanting to see the footage? Do you think it will be broadcast or will someone stick it on the internet before too long? I don't wish to be pompous, but I think we should wait to see how he gets on before looking for footage. If he pulls through then watching this would give us some sense of how lucky he was (though I'm not sure we would need to see the video to appreciate that). But if he doesn't pull through, then watching the video would at best be rather morbid. Quote
WilliamB Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Here's to a speedy and full recovery. RH has been a real bonus to Top Gear and is a really likeable bloke who has a real passion for what he does. If only all of us could have his enthusiasm for work and life as a whole. I just hope the sandal wearing brigade don't use this as a means to try and stop the programme and bring more nanny state restrictions on all of us. Quote
Phil. S Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Looks like his condition is improving. Quote
