Asterix Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Would be nice for the Club to send him a get well card while we're sending cards, can we spare sometime for those not in the eye of the media Quote
peterg Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Yeah yeah, there's always someone worse off than you etc etc but people can donate money to Oxfam or whatever they choose anytime 'if they want', this is a car enthusiast forum and he's a petrolhead so let's keep the thread confined to wishing him well OK? marshalla Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 C'mon Hamster - we need you to keep Major Ego & Captain Slow on track! Quote
BRJ Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Well put 'peterg' Lets just wish him all the best. Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 He was driving this !! Hope he gets well soon, all the best Richard Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 though I'm sure the accident was serious and I wish him well, the cynic in me thinks this is perfect cricketing preamble to the new series of TG (due less than one month from now). Must be so much fun crashing and almost dying for ratings don't you think? Get well soon Richard! Quote

I'm sure if you ask most of those kids, they're also petrolheads and car enthusiasts, they'd also wish him well whatever their condition, they're just lower in the pecking order aren't they... Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Perhaps we should consider "adopting" the air ambulance service as a pet charity, (bit like Nuke the Luke on Blatchat). Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 o.k guys............ calm down and wind neck in time, breathe deeply please I'm sure we all have our own favourite worthy charitable causes close to our hearts This is not about that the thread is about the serious accident involving Richard Hammond. Please start a new thread if you wish Get well soon Hamster Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Wasn't attempting to provoke argument & don't want one; I found a rather sickening degree of that over on Pistonheads earlier. The charity bit was just a thought that occured to me after Cadwell etc. As an ex Round Tabler, it was always second nature to have a supported charity. Get well soon Hamster Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for the "hamster" Quote

Must be so much fun crashing and almost dying for ratings don't you think? Get well soon Richard! Firstly, the cynic in me has receded...this is obviously no stunt nor an opportunity for fame. But do we think he didn't realise the risk he was taking? Was he cerebrally challenged...I think not. In much the same way as a petrolhead competitor risks his life on almost every outing trying to outdo his peers, so do presenters seek new, more ever exciting and possibly exceedingly dangerous excursions in order to make their program more interesting than the next. Most of us take risks, some don't get the opportunity. Quote
Coxy Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Not good news, I hope he has a full and speedy recovery Quote
spence Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 How Richard Hammond having an accident and kids in the third world can be linked in a thread IMHO is ridiculous. Here we go again with an argument born from nowhere to prevoke a reaction. My thoughts are with Hamster and family at the moment. The third world crisis ain't gonna be solved in this thread me thinks Quote
