Mrs Westy Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/north_yorkshire/5365676.stm They just said on the news he crashed at 280mph, I really hope that's a media exaggeration! Hope he's ok, he has a wife and young family too I think Quote
Willow Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Oh no - not the Hamster Hope he'll be OK. Quote
Martin Keene Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 I've just about that on Pistons Heads. Not good, here's hoping he makes a full recovery. I also hope the Beeb don't use it as a cheap excuse to can Top Gear. Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Christ, hope he is ok, he's a great guy. Quote
Major Stare Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Hope he's ok, he has a wife and young family too I think He lives near Cheltenham with his wife Amanda, whom he married in 2002, and their two young daughters, Isabella and Willow. He also has three horses, four dogs, two cats, a rabbit and a handful of chickens and sheep Hope he recovers soon.......especially before MPH Show at Birmingham Quote
Rob Navin Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Bad news ! Hope he's back for the rest of the series Quote
peterg Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Hope he's OK, he only lives 30 miles from me I always thought he was more of a real car enthusiast unlike Clarkson who's more interested in his own portrayal than the cars Quote
spence Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Obviously don't know the full facts but have seen these cars at Santa Pod. I'm surprised to say the least that he was given permission to drive this kind of car reaching 260-270mph in the quarter mile. The acceleration is unbelievable and one wrong move.....well. Really hope he is okay Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Lets hope he didn't dull them teeth Quote
Boomy Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 The video report says he walked away from the crash and got into the air ambulance so i assume things developed after that for him to be critical. Fingers crossed for the fella. Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 BBC 24 just said that he is in critical condition. My partner says that being airlifted straight into a neuro specialist hospital indicates head trauma. How severe, remains to be seen. I hope she is mistaken.... Quote
Asterix Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 The video report says he walked away from the crash and got into the air ambulance so i assume things developed after that for him to be critical. Fingers crossed for the fella. though I'm sure the accident was serious and I wish him well, the cynic in me thinks this is perfect cricketing preamble to the new series of TG (due less than one month from now). Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 The video report says he walked away from the crash and got into the air ambulance so i assume things developed after that for him to be critical. Fingers crossed for the fella. Other reports have him being cut out of the car and unconcious at the scene though. Fingers most definately crossed for a full recovery. Quote
Thrustyjust Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 As Mrs Westy says,he has a wife and two young daughters, who my wife and I met.I have met Richard twice, once at the studios and once filming at my work and both times he and the other guys were very approachable and genuine people.I hope that he makes a full recovery,as he is a bl**** good bloke in my eyes and probably others who have met him too. peterg Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Would be nice for the Club to send him a get well card in the same vein as the one for Kim Kingham wouldn't it? Calling Mr Mark Stanton Quote
