After yet another night of fighting with a prize specimen of the Merseyside gene pool  :arse:  who got himself on the wrong side of a 9mm several times has anyone got a new job I can have?

30k Gross would get me interested and no bl**** night shifts :bangshead:

Been doing this for 18yrs now and I'm just fu**ed off with it. No perks(apart from a lot of holiday) no glamour; stomach ulcer; wrecked back and shafted in the new salary structure. Why do I put myself through it?

Isn't this where someone is supposed to say ah but it's not a job, it's a vocation    :p

Cheep up Scott at least you get plenty of holiday  ;)

Isn't a vocation something you put your heart into and gain lots of non material personal reward/satisfaction from the dedication you apply to the job?

None of that happens :arse: ...so it must be just a shi**y job then:oops:

There are some jobs going at the factory, including sales manager... ;)

I hear from an impeccable source that, under the new NHS arrangements put into place by the government, 15,000 hospital doctors will be facing unemployment next year.

If it weren't for folks like yourself Scott working for the NHS we would be even deeper in the brown smelly stuff       Gotta be disheartening when its self inflicted  :bangshead: trolls that turn up needing putting back together  :bangshead:

What about a transfer to a more rural setting rather than scally-land  :D  ;)

After 18yrs of working for the NHS there will be just heaps of people who owe their recovery if not their lives to you and your colleagues.  IMO you, your stomach and your back don't owe them or your concience anything.

Good luck with finding a new job  :)  :) (even if the NHS is a poorer place without you)  :(

 I am one of the 10 - 15000 doctors without a job. Having to move all over the country staying in dire accomodation while locuming to pay bills at the moment. About to sell the westy, and will have to move abroad. After six years of nights, weekends and 90 hour weeks this is the bit when it was meant to improve. Instead I can't get a mortgage and have to emigrate :bangshead:

You are absolutly right Scott in the way you feel and no one can blame you for it. As many know my wife works on the finance side of the NHS and beleive me it is going to get worse. It appears that along with everything that is a National service, the goverment want change, so we have HATO's and community officers instead of police. They are getting more less qualifed persons like Pharmacists, to do jobs that Doctors used to do, because they can. Doctors from abroard come here and work witout complaint because they get more money than at home and yet we then have appeals because developing countries have no Doctors and nurses. The only thing they don't want to change is the cause of the turmoil, them and the army of people who keep them in power. Every change they make costs millions to implement, everytime they announce a change like Herseptain (sorry for spelling) they forget to tell people that it has to come out of exsisting budgets so others will suffer, and when it gets too tough blame the admin and the hospital management.

we should treasure our health service staff in all areas from cleaners to Doctors and not make it in to a profit based monster. We send mad people out on the street instead of helping them, we allow drug dealers and the like free reign and the nhs staff pick up the crap. I wish everyone could see what Scott and others put up with and then get blamed. Sadly Scott is not alone in wanting to leave but as Buzz says that is easier said than done.

Yeah, stop moaning Scott...how can you say 'no glamour' - we've all seen ER and Gray's Anatomy and House so you can't pull the wool over our eyes - I bet it's all sexy nurses    and standing around talking about your love life    :0  :p  :D  ;)

On a more serious note, I couldn't do what you and others do and I admire you for sticking to it but don't blame you for wanting out after all that time  :t-up:

So Ken, what is going to be done about it? Someone I know very well is in the same position, or may well be, next month. A two-post job at a hospital in the south advertised recently had 400 applicants. A few years ago the word 'unemployment' was not in the vocabulary of doctors. Now it's more secure to be a bus driver. If you haven't got a registrar's post very soon, I gather, you could be technically unemployable when the new system kicks in. What really pees me off is the bull that the government spouts about how the NHS is in better shape now than ever. Total crap!
