If your thinking of buying one check out if its legal for the road. It may not apply now but I bought a Simpson Bandit back in the late 80's and it wasn't legal for the road as the visor hole was too small.

Looks to me like a Simpson Diamondback.  See here.

I have just bought one in black.  I'm yet to use it but first impression is that it's very light and comfortable...

Will let you know how I get on with it.

Steve.

Simpson lids are still illegal in the UK on the roads if you are using it on a motorcycle. There is a definite grey area as far as wearing lids in a car is concerned though, as the lids isn't being used in response to legislation, but as a choice by the wearer to afford more protection and safety than is otherwise available with a baseball hat and sunglasses. In my honest (but not legally tested) opinion, you'd be *VERY* unlucky to end up in front of the beak for wearing an "illegal" lid in a car, BUT it only needs one copper who isn't sure for him to give you a summons to test that theory. As always, there is a risk of prosecution, even if it's a slim one...

But you may be on a "sticky wicket" in any dispute over the causes of an accident,

"But he did'nt see because of that helmet m'lord"

The lawyers would jump on that one! impaired vision etc, etc.

I can confirm that my helmet is a Simpson Diamondback as stated by Steve R. It looks rather nice doesnt it?  :t-up:
