Adrian Elkin Posted May 23, 2002 Posted May 23, 2002 Did you use to have a bit part in "Father Ted" by any chance? Quote
Adrian Elkin Posted May 23, 2002 Posted May 23, 2002 Anyway, I remember what happened to Alex last August! Quote
Adrian Elkin Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 My new pride and joy and you say you'll "try not to lunch it!" Perhaps you should talk to Roger King first about the cost of BDR rebuilds, AND THEN come back and talk to me about a double drive. I think it's a case of open your wallet and keep it open until he says you can close it!!! Anyway, I think we'd be put in Class 5 and we all know how deep your pockets have to be to even get in the top 10 in that class now! I don't think a standard BDR would quite cut it somehow! Quote
Blatman Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 Ooooohhhhhh it's a BDR, I hadn't realised, although I'm sure you probably told me :0 :0 I think I'll retire gracefully and go and nag Arnie/Peter/Mince/ECR/Chelspeed/DaveK etc.......... I really MUST get down to the Wootton Hatch. Let me know when you and the car are going to be there, and I'll try and get my in gear. Quote
Adrian Elkin Posted May 24, 2002 Posted May 24, 2002 I'm wondering if I've done the right thing now. I'm getting all these e-mails from the other L7C AO's telling me how I've done the right thing, and it's "nice to see the Surrey AO has got himself a proper car now." I feel a traitor. A cad. 10 years a Westfield owner, and enjoyed every minute of it. I thought they accepted me even though I owned one. That it didn't matter as I'm a pure "Se7en" enthusiast, so they welcomed me into the fold. Then along comes a beautiful Ford Cosworth BDR engine. An engine I've lusted and desired for many a year. That golden anodised, alloy cam cover makes you want to run with a perspex bonnet just so as the whole world will know. As if the glorious howl would give it away instantly mind you. Not the most glamourous of clothes being stuck in a C******m, but I knew I wasn't that shallow. Beauty is more than skin deep. It's about heritage, exhaust note and intake roar! So what if it was in a C******m, I had to have her. So I borrowed the money and begged for a garage. "It'll be worth it," I said to myself. "Everybody will see it for the engine and not the car, won't they? I'll still be known for my exploits in my '92 SEi?" How wrong I've been. Everyone's just focusing on that d**n C******m badge now. They couldn't care less if it had a Metro engine under the bonnet! What am I to do. I'm torn between the two petrolheaded loves of my life! Help me somebody please!!!! Quote
VDU7X Posted May 25, 2002 Posted May 25, 2002 Don't you even dare consider putting the BDR in the Westfield - I'm sure Wattie must have made you sign an agreement not to do that! In all seriousness though, congrats on the BDR, even if it's removed one of the funniest things about you being Surrey AO!! Thanks again for your help at Curborough!!!!! Quote
ian crocker Posted May 25, 2002 Posted May 25, 2002 I say put the best engine in the best chassis Ian Quote
Adrian Elkin Posted May 26, 2002 Posted May 26, 2002 Picked up the afforementioned vehicle yesterday. WOW!!! It's even better that I remember from the test drive. Mind you I was probably using about a thousand more RPM! Why did c******m replace it with Vauxhall unit. It's akin to replacing the Sierra Cossie with a Vectra. And we all know the latter has no soul! Quote
VDU7X Posted May 26, 2002 Posted May 26, 2002 Adrian, Don't you start picking on us Vx boys now.... :0 Let's just say that you wouldn't choose a BDR for Liege Targa, would you? Fan-bl****-tastic noise though and very very desirable. A 1700BDR was the first Seven I craved for but my budget only went as far as a x-flow. Something about that cam cover - it looks like a DFV cam cover off a Lotus 49, except not black. I am envious, but as you pointed out, I couldn't part with VDU7X. Quote
Adrian Elkin Posted May 26, 2002 Posted May 26, 2002 Don't you start picking on us Vx boys now.... Somebody want to help me reel him in? Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted May 28, 2002 Author Posted May 28, 2002 Update time, Spoke to Richard Jones at Westfield, He said send it to me i'll see what i can do to cut a long story short, Phoned him today, he said Spax dont want to know its out of warranty (6450 miles :0 ) So it looks like AVO,s here i come Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Never mind Hurdsey Still you've had a very enjoyable 6450 miles worth of spax use and the next 6450 should be even better Quote
