Gromit Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 So Hugh, have you found a place to buy your purple crushed velvet interior and chain link steering wheel? Quote
Hammy Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 And don't forget the extended spring hangers and whale tail spoiler (sorry mate) IMVH & PO (!: Just buy a nice 280 , its a cool car and you might even make a proift from it , if you jazz up an old nail it still remains pretty worthless when you re-sell, less than a clean standard car . There is still work you could do to mod a 280 -like brakes, Engine work, nice exhaust system etc without making it "in correct" I had a 2.8i about 10yrs ago it was a nice car, but noisy even then and poor handling by todays standards (a 2.0 mondeo would leave you for dust on a country lane and for top speed -you try doing 130 in a capri, you need to be in fourth and have to hold on very tight, while Mondeo man can sit back at 120 and wait for you too lose your nerve)). They are Lethal in the wet, got 18mpg during the winter on a 10 mile commute, best evey 25mpg on a run -all on 4* LEADED . Have you thought about a proper not messed with Mk1 RS2000 ? Quote
scruffythefirst Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 I can't afford a Brookie, or a 'scort. The crapi is a cheap replacement for yet another dead cavalier, but also a cheap project - I would have started a bec locost or simmilar but my mum would have thrown me out (and I can't afford rent - unemployed as of 30th) , this way I get a runabout, cheap project to muck about with and when its finished a modern quick tin top thats a little cooler than a mondeo or cav for the price of an old bmw. Its getting a zebra print headlining gromit, don't worry Quote
Liam Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Like a challenge don't you Hugh Pleased to see that you are sticking with proper engines Want some ally wheels: 4 off with centre caps and nuts. I think they are ex Fiesta RS 1800 Good but laquer lifting in parts - would look nice in anthracite. Try Practical Performance Car. Wil Holman runs a V8, albiet an earlier model. Best of luck Quote
