Blatman Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Can you list all your track days and outings please? I need to make sure that I'm nowhere near you two when you're out and about Quote
funbobby Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Dont worry Blatters, once weve learnt to lock the bonnet down we'll be miles in front of you:D Quote
cast iron Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 There is a place in Durham called Merlins, he repairs motorcycle fairings, and repairs my mates race westy bodywork, look em up he does a good job Quote
Al Yupright Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 D'oh! I think there is label glassed into the underside of the bonnet which says what mould it is from and the pigment used. Give that info to Westfield. Hopefully you can scrape the glass-fibre off that is holding the 3 grilles on and re-use those on the new bonnet. It was a PITA to cut, shape and spray those. The new one will be the third bonnet on that car, as the first one had some defects in it and was replaced under warranty. The first time I drove the car I had a similar mishap when the speedo sensor hit the propshaft and snapped off. 100quid! What makes it worse is I distinctly remember talking to funbobby and telling him to always make sure the bonnet is locked!!! Still, good that you like the car! Take it easy on greasy roads cos the A048Rs do give up the grip easily in these conditions! Cheers, Al. Quote
funbobby Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Cheers Ed - new bonnet just ordered - so we'll have the new one in a couple of weeks. I'll keep the mesh of the old one. Your words reminding me to make sure the bonnet was locked was the first thing I thought of when I was doing the walk of shame to pick it up off the road - doh! Quote
Al Yupright Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Oh well, another justification for having the cage Quote

Ian Podmore Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I have a piece of cardboard that's got a little list on it that I hang on the steering wheel in the garage and it says: Battery charger Bonnet catches The battery charger one was because I wheeled the car out of the garage with the conditioner still plugged in and the other as so many of you have launched your bonnets Works for me, may be a good idea some others as well..... Two weeks ago while having some fun with a golf gti, I pulled onto a duel carrige way any wayha, off comes the bonnet...only it was still attached via 1 catch......I managed to get a hand on it, but looked like a right wally while the golf driver went passed beeping his horn and laughing a this guy on the hard sholder with one hand over the windscreen holding onto a bonnet.... a little bit of gel coat was removed but thats about it...I was one of the lucky ones.......Still felt like a right plonker though!. Al Yupright Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I've driven off with the cordless phone on the rear boot cover. Was lying in the gutter at the end of my road when I returned. Quote
