Do we need to mention that numbers on a road car are generally a 'no-no'? ???

You kidding right?

It was for a photo shoot. The car was towed to the studio on a trailer, and it aint even been registered yet.

Now get off your high horse Andy!  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Depends if you've got a race liscence or not really, or care.

Photo's are excellent; very well taken (I particularly like the second image) and the car looks stunning (gets my vote for the nicest Westie of the year so far!;); you should both be very proud of your results   :t-up:

Like to agree with nikpro, the car looks really good, especially in the 2nd (overhead) photo   :t-up:  :t-up:

Thanks guys, i'm sure Steve will be chuffed with your comments. Seeing the car last week, it is stunningly good and I almost offered him £16K for it there and then. I know he wouldn't take it at this stage though as he wants some use out of it.

Regarding the photos. They were taken with a D2X and a Nikkor 28-70 AF-S F2.8 zoom, all at f8 or 9, 1/125th, ISO 100. The 600 pixel web image doesn't do it justice. I've done a A3+ print off my own printer and the detail is excellent as you can imagine.

Right, i'm off to Llandow.

I don't about this year. That is one of the best thought out, built and finished cars I've seen. Period.

Top job Steve...

Excellent photos Nige, really chuffed to have some decent pictures of my creation.  :)  Had a fantastic day for some reason! :D:love:

Not sure who that dodgy character is in the last picture though!  :D

Cheers for the kind comments about the car, I'll try not to ruin it once I get my number plates and give it some stick...

With regards to the race numbers they were only added for the shoot, although out of curiosity what is the situation for road use?  I don't have a race licence so does it matter if I were to leave them on?  Is there a legal reason why I should remove them?  Just curious really, not too bothered if they have to come off....

If numbers are road cars are so bad, how come VW got away with this:

Race numbers on road cars are all to do with road racing being banned in this country. If you have race numbers, you could well be competing on the road.

TBH I don't think most coppers would even know the law surrounding race numbers, and most probably wouldn't be bothered even if they did. I ran round with a number 7 on my bonnet for years without a problem, I only took it off after it was pointed out I could get my race licence endorsed for it...

Ah, I see.  I guess if you cross them out you'll be ok then?

I was vaguely aware of the race licence issue, but didn't know what the law had to say about it.  I too have seen one of those Herbie VWs on the roads around here so assumed it wasn't a problem.

Thanks for the info.

Oh well, back to cleaning baby oil off the car.....   :D    :arse:
