Sorry to hear about that Gary.  I guess this must be a very rare thing to happen.  I mean, you can't exactly sell it on very easily can you ?  I hope it is recovered in good condition.

Regards,

Ian

Very sorry to hear that Gary ;)

I can't understand why a westie would be stolen, your average joy rider would kill themselves within the first mile, and they are not exactly the the sort of thing Joe Public would be interested in, and that's ignoring the fact they stick out like a sore thumb.

Hopefully it will be returned soon.

Cheers guys, yes - no idea why someone would take a westie-it only had 1/4 of a tank of fuel so I spent most of today cruising around Reading in a friends MR2 but no luck. Then gave up and got drunk.  god knows what goes on in the minds of these people.

Really sorry to hear this. The reason that they get nicked is for the bits that are attached to it. They will take a car like this and break it down to sell the engine first wheels etc and think they have done well to get a grand for all this. Meanwhile you will unfortunatly have to start all over again. As club members we can do our bit by only buying used Westfield parts from sources we can verify, yea we all like a bargin but just think first, if it sounds too cheap it is probably nicked. Only when there is no outlet for all the hookey gear will this stop.

The reaction of the police to this still blows my mind, if I nicked £10,000 in cash from a shop there would be house to house etc but your car a similar value, go away sonny you got what you deseverd taunting the scrots with your nice car and anyway its insured just quote this number. But if they drive it a bit fast getting away we stand a chance otherwise no hope.

Sorry to go on but my experiance of having cars nicked in Bristol leads me to the conclusion that you are on your own as far as the police are concerned. I hope in your case you are lucky and get it back in one piece.

Can't tell you how sorry I am to hear this.

I'll keep an eye out...........

Gary,

I am really sorry to hear about your car - it's gut wrenching when something like this happens.

I was wondering if you wanted me to send out an email to everyone who comes along to the Thames Valley meetings.  Let me have some details and I will do this, and also any pictures you have.

Have you posted a message on the Lotus7 blatchat site - worth doing - http://www.blatchat.com/

and also http://findit.co.uk/cars/westfield.htm   You can place a free add on here.

If it helps I have a picture of your engine and also a few pictures from last weekend thanks to Stuart Hills-Harrop.

If I can be of any further assistance please let me know.

Best of luck in getting your car back

Regards

Shaun

I read of your loss on the Blatchat site.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. I know exactly how you feel having had my c******m stolen nearly 3 months ago. If it hasn't been trashed (like mine) then I would think tha a distinctive car would show up sooner rather than later.

Can you let us have the reg no. so that we can do something positive if we see it? Yes I live in the Reading area but mine was stolen from a private parking area in SE London.
