Mark Stanton Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 M42 Junctions 3 to 7b Speed Cameras As of the 1st April 2006 the new digital automated tracking system between junctions 3 & 7b on the M42 is scheduled to go live. There are 276 Digital Cameras which have been set to 2MPH tolerance You will not see any flash. The 1st you will know when you have been caught is the day the postman delivers the £60 fine Might be an April Fools might not be sure is a lot of cameras on the M42 Quote
Stuart Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Anyone know what the logic is supposed to be in one gantry saying 50mph, the next 60mph and the one after 50mph again. Are they having a laugh or trying to catch people out or just don't have clue? Happened again tonight - along with signs lit up all over the place saying "Congestion after next junction" when there isn't. It's a farce and it makes me maaaaad........ Quote
pistonbroke Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 A56 into N wales has signs "warning " of " Road works 26 miles ahead " what the devil are all these flashing "information " things about, today's M60 message warned us of "spray" when it was pizzin down and you could hardly see the bl**dy sign for the kin spray . MAT1800 Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 What about the signs on the M6 that tell you the Toll Road is clear.... But nothing else. Quote
Ted Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Not sure what's going on north of the border but the favourite message used on the electronic signs on the A9 seems to be: 'PLEASE DRIVE ON THE LEFT' Quote
studbuckle Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 No, the best I saw was on the M8 in Glasgow, heavy traffic and the signs all read 'CHECK YOUR BRAKES' Quote
nlash Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I updated my Road Angel last week and now it warns at each 'live' gantry when passing this section of the M42. Not all gantry's have cameras fitted. Its easy to spot which do though as the cameras on the opposite carriageway are clear to see. I'm not sure without flash if the cameras are able to record at night though, not that i'm going to try and test this out Quote
pistonbroke Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Or the Welsh one near Llannfor***** .... "Contraflow 1 mile" everyone thinks there now lost and are looking at the road map for a Welsh place called Contrafflow ! (say it with a welsh accent ) Quote
Vinny's Westie Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 looking at the road map for a Welsh place called Contrafflow ! (say it with a welsh accent ) Not enough 'y' 'l' and 'f's in it and you need to reverse the order of the words ------- something like ffllywcynttre. Quote
jonlewis Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 The very first time I drove through Wales.... I was confused at how big Gwasanaethau was....... there seemed to a Gwasanaethau Services every few miles... Quote
adhawkins Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 The very first time I drove through Wales.... I was confused at how big Gwasanaethau was....... there seemed to a Gwasanaethau Services every few miles... Hmm...apparently the old joke is for a tourist to ask someone where 'Castell Castle' is Andy Quote
Vinny's Westie Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 What about 'bryn buga' for Usk The best I've seen is the welsh for a welsh word-----Abergavenny (aber means mouth of river) so it is Mouth of the river Gavenny. The wise and wonderful welsh morons come up with Y Fenni ------- how can you have the welsh of a welsh name, its total crap. Quote
adhawkins Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 I'll have to make sure I point Mrs. H. to this thread this evening Andy Quote
jonlewis Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Araf...... it's what it sounds like when I have had too much to drink.... nothing to do with road signage. Why is an "f" a "v" and "ff" an "f" Why do the Welsh hate us What do the Welsh see in Max Boyce Why, Why, Why.... Quote
adhawkins Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Why is an "f" a "v" and "ff" an "f" Why is 'ti' a 'sh' in English? Why is 'gh' an 'f'? Why is 'u' sometimes an 'i'? Andy Quote
