scruffythefirst Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 If I was building one for myself You havent just built one for evo have you Quote
Martin Keene Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I suspect he might be one and the same. There can't be that many Roger's building an XI, that isn't there's, that have put a packing piece under an engine mount. BTW Roger, cool garage... Quote
oioi Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 i picked up a copy of evo at an airport the other day, disapointed to see no mention of the build. dont know what happened there? just as a thought, and im not sure its right, should we have separate 11 and xtr sections? i hate forums where you have loads of sub heddings - check out locostbuilders to understand what i mean, but would it be valuable for the members with none se7en style cars? be interested to know what % of the membership is 11 and what % is xtr Quote
Martin Keene Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 i picked up a copy of evo at an airport the other day, disapointed to see no mention of the build. dont know what happened there? They didn't have a report in the last issue, part 2 is in the issue on sale know. Quote
adhawkins Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 just as a thought, and im not sure its right, should we have separate 11 and xtr sections? Not sure there'd be much call to be honest. When was the last time you saw an XTR thread? Ok, we're starting to get the odd 11 question, but I doubt it's enough to justify its own section. Andy Quote
ecr Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 The XI feature is scheduled for alternate issues. Anna sends her regards Blatman The garage is bl***y cool at the moment ! Those hot air blowers are devastating for any unplated parts with rust appearing overnight almost. Quote
felters Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Strangest thing - I've just read the article. Looks fab... Anybody know how much cockpit space there is? Same as a narrow body? More/less?? Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 The xtr boys tend to visit xtr forum but I would be happy to have an area here too. Quote
VDU7X Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 ECR, We, the bastions of all that is holy on BC find you guilty of coercing with the enemy. We observed your insistence on persuing the build of said XI with dismay but also with tolerance as you have been such an asset to our organisation in the past. Such peversities are inevitable when the mind is allowed to wander. But direct interaction with the dark side is clearly an act of treason and not in keeping with the pure thoughts of our establishment. Still, you let me clean the glass on the XI's rev counter so I'll let you off. Alex Quote
bkeirle Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 well I will be joining you all soon, as I need to rebuild my original 11 once the chassis is repaired....So keep the info coming.... Quote
tonyl42 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 The more Eleven build info the better. I'm 75% through my build, and have run into numerous minor problems where others' experience has or would be really helpful. Amongst other things I managed initially to install the front wishbones upside down, and on the wrong sides. I agree that the fuel tank fit is snug, to say the least, and took calls to WF to sort out. I'm also struggling with the electrics, where any guidance on positioning components (fusebox, coil, etc.), and adapting the original Midget loom would be invaluable. Glad I'm not the only one complaining about the manual. I proposed to WF that they might include more photos in it, but they didn't seem very interested. Having said that, the technical support has been fine, but much of it should have been in the manual in the first place... Tony Lincoln Quote
PapaLazarou Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Would the XI take a bike engine ? Exactly the same thought has crossed my mind too... Quote
oioi Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 any car will take any engine if youve got the patience, resources and ability fwiw i remeber reading an article on ccc awhile ago about a midget with a R1 in it Quote
