perksy Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Not Funny Anything that shows Cruelty/potential injury to animals doesn't belong on this site....
Vinny's Westie Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Quite a lively debate this one. If someone posted a pornographic link would that be acceptable to all, would it be removed? My link does not work but I did try to access, but after reading the rest of the contributions. A link is there with a description of some sort, the choice is up to the viewer. If there is a problem with this then that seems to be a far bigger issue with the type of posts on here, many could be considered controversial in some way. Free speech and freedom of choice
the bear Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Blatters - Good advice. I will in future restrict myself to the technical content. However as someone who will cross the street to defend others it is hard to walk away but you're right of course, life has more to offer and ignoring such stuff is probably easier as it does seem to have little effect anyway. Blatman Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 There is a distinction between posting "iffy" pictures and linking to them. As bear was alluding to, the opening post with the link should probably contain a disclaimer so that the readers have an idea that offence may be caused when the link is opened, thereby giving us the chance to make an informed decision. In that case, if you have read a disclaimer and still decide to proceed, you lose the right to complain about it as you exercised your choice to view.
steve_m Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Right, let this be a warning to us all . . . no more linking to the Robin Hood web site . . . "just say no" . . . life is too short
perksy Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Blatman the Original post Didn't say that it may be offensive.... What if a members small son or daughter had clicked the link, hadn't found it funny and burst into tears etc It's a Family site isn't it, or am i missing something
Blatman Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Blatmanthe Original post Didn't say that it may be offensive.... I know, which is why I said that such postings should contain a warning. Club Chairman (Reserve) Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 goodness me will some of you lot wind yer necks in a bit and stop behaving like kids Now I for one like a laff and a joke as most will know and a good heated debate about something that's relevant is fine - now you can all start banging your freedom of speech drum. But at the end of the day this is a Car Club boardroom not some huge life life changing or political forum I don't like cats ................. however whats the point of putting on some jokey article about cruelty to animals what exactly has it got to do with cars - nothing - so come on you lot get your group hug sorted - wipe slates clean and move on to what the club is about And this is no forum to discuss convicted child molesters either please - I've also had complaints about that and rightly so Pleasant dreams to all, pour yourself a large one and relax -
