Sam Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 I got a bosch high pressure injection pump....Cant remember where i got it from i will have to check the invoice when i get home. I got my filter from Demon Tweeks, not the cheapest but it looks good, it is a bullet style one. Oh and i got free postage and 10% discount!! Cheeky old me. Sam ps. I had to upgrade the plastic P-clips that they provided to ali ones from Europa cause the lines werent held tight enough......Although if you tell him then he will sort it. He suggested i use bigger rivets. Quote
Chasmon Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Someone must know what car I need to get the pump from and what filters I need to run with it without denting my wallet on anodised aluminium... I'ma bit confused as well as it seems some cars run with a filter before the pump and not after Am I mssing something? Also 10mm seems large for High pressure fuel lines... Quote
Sam Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 Cant help you with identifying the pump. I am putting a filter between tank and pump, There is already a filter in the injection tank but aparantly it is better to be safe than sorry. If you re-read this thread the issue of filters and where they should go has been discussed. Blatman has one pre and post pump!! I am not doing this. The stuff i bought from Tifosi is high pressure fuel line. Hope this clears up a few problems. Quote
Chasmon Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I have been told that there is a finger filter in my tank therefore i dont need a pre pump filter. By Mark at Westfield. Thanks for your replies Sam. I think it was this that has been confusing me. With all this in mind I'm going to go for a pre pump filter and not one afterwards. After reading Haynes it appears this is good enough for tin tops...You don't hear of many problems with blocked injectors on those. Quote
Chasmon Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Can anyone confirm this is right? I've read that I need a 50 micron filter then the pump then a 10 micron filter. Could really do with seom guidance from someone whos done this but on a budget... Quote
Blatman Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 "Fuel injection" and "on a budget" aren't often heard together... Budget is one thing, false economies are quite another... Quote
Chasmon Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Been chatting to folk on locost builders... I'm considering a system comprising a nylon pre pump filter, a VX pump (external) and a large injection filter that has the appropriate fittings such as from : here. Spending 25 quid to protect a pump that cost around the same seems sensible. After all I'm only after the same protection the pump gets in the car it comes from. I accept that fuel injection is not the cheapest route but its the way I want to go I beleive it CAN be done on a budget. There are people about who have achieved what I'm aiming for. PS I have been told that using an injection filter as a pre pump filter is not always a good idea as it can cause cavitation... Just thought I'd let you know, wouldn't want your cheap pre filter pump to bend up being a false economy... Joking aside I am interested in your opinions on this Quote
Blatman Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Mine have 8 years of use behind them, including sprints and track days and several thousand miles of road use each year. I don't think a fuel filter will cause cavitation unless it has a problem like a blockage. I'll be using the same filters to protect my Cosworth engine when it's back up and running, and I don't think it's a false economy... The filters I use look quite similar to the BMW filter listed at the bottom of the FSE page (item G). If I get a chance in the next few days, I'll see if I can see a part number on the filters I use... Quote
Sam Posted March 2, 2006 Author Posted March 2, 2006 Could really do with some guidance from someone whos done this but on a budget... Well it must be just me......but my budget went out of the window months ago.......It is the best for my westfield from now on!! Just a shame that i am only a student teacher!! NO MONEY LEFT! Quote
Chasmon Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 I don't supose I will come in under budget but I just want to stick to it as much as possible. Hoping by the sumer I'll ahve it finished and have enough left over for a classic single cylinder bike... Thanks for all the replies. Quote
