Blatman Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 What ones do you use Blatters? And FWIW, I use a Coopers fuel filters from Partco. I don't have the part number to hand, but last time I replaced them, they were 11 quid each, complete with -6 fittings in an ally body. Quote
scott beeland Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Isn't there a bracket for fuel pump mounting on the right hand side of the diff carrier on factory chassis anymore then?? Quote
Chasmon Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 And FWIW, I use a Coopers fuel filters from Partco. I don't have the part number to hand, but last time I replaced them, they were 11 quid each, complete with -6 fittings in an ally body. Sorry my question wasn't that specific in fact it wasn't really what I wanted to ask you... Can you get a low pressure filter from a motor factors? I'm guessing tin tops just you a post pump filter but what about the pre filter? With that in mind I've got an XJS pump, I'll acquire an XJS filter and an aftermarket regulator plus the pre pump filter... Any help gratefully received! Quote
Blatman Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I use the same injection type filter on both sides of the pump. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 If you can get a filter with the correct ends on it then yes any fuel fitlet will do but my fuel pump has a 15mm tail on it and I could not find a filter that had big enough tails on it. Quote
Sam Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Do fuel filters ever need to be changed? Quote
Blatman Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Yes. But obviously it's dependent on how dirty they get in use... Quote
daverobs Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Scott You are right a bracket is still there - but I think it meant for Red Top type pumps. Dave Quote
scott beeland Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 My injection pump sits very nicely on it though Quote
Graham Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 My injection pump sits very nicely on it though Mine too. You can see it just beneath the lobro in that picture I posted... Graham. Quote
Chasmon Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I'm struggling somewhat to find out what I require. As per usual Westfield have told me I require parts from them and they are speecific parts not fitted as OE... I've been told by a friend that a VX pump from the red top engine car Calibra Cav Astra etc will be fine and I'm guessing with that I would use the filter to go with it. But this stil leaves me none the wiser as to what to put in front of it. I've got the day off tomorrow as I need to get on with my build. Don;t want to run in circles anymore! I need to know what to ask for at the slavages for the pump and at the motor factors for the filters. Please help! Cheers Charlie Quote
Blatman Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 It's difficult for us to give specifics because for some filters you will need dash 6 fittings, and for some you'll just use jubilee clips, and ther may yet be others that use either male or female fittings. Without knowing what you want to spend and how you want to secure the joins, it's impossible for us to say "You need parts A + B"... As for Westfield saying that their parts are specific and not OEM, what a load of b*****k*! Westfield are not a fuel pump or filter manufacturer, they buy them in and re-sell them. No problem with that, and of course it makes supply to non savvy punters easy, but it's still a lie... Quote
Chasmon Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I know Westfield do this to raise sales, its just the same as them not releasing details of their shock lengths . I'm not too concerned about which fittings I use, just after advice of what people currently use that would be suitable for my car (2L on GSXR TBs). As for price, well I want to get the pump from salvage but I dont want to shell out more than 25 quid for filters as I don't believe it will be better just prettier. Westfield recommeded 10mm Copper for the runs down the car, I guess at the rear i would be happy with hoses and jubillee type fuel clips. I'm going to buy a flaring tool so that should make it secure. Any advise on what others would do or have done apreciated really. Thanks C Quote
Sam Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 Check out the fuel line kit that Tifosi sell. I used it for mine, comes with some ali hard lines and a length of braided hose with some jubilee clips. Think it is about £35. Sam Quote
Chasmon Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Thanks Sam, Just found them: here Sounds quite reasonable with the clips too. I think I'll call them tomorrow to sort out what I need. Out of interest what pump etc did you use? Cheers Charlie Quote
