Blatman Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I was told the same thing by Westfield I assume the factory built cars rely on this filter as the pump pre-filter? Is that enough of an assurance though It should be, but I always err on the side of caution when comparing a 20 quid filter with a 100 pound fuel pump... Quote

Sam Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 I am searching the net now.....Are there any ones that would be recommended? These look more like it? http://www.fuelsystem.co.uk/filters.pdf Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 That's the type I have on both my Westies they are not cheep but its better than trashing a pump as Blatman has said. Quote
kevip6 Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 So would these fit between the tank and the pump in addition to the filter between the pump and the fuel rail? Or would one of these make the other filter redundant? Quote
Sam Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 As far as i know there needs to be a filter between the tank and the pump. That was all i was planning. Quote
Blatman Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 So would these fit between the tank and the pump in addition to the filter between the pump and the fuel rail?Or would one of these make the other filter redundant? I always have a pre and post pump filter. Some folk will say that one pre pump filter is enough. I have no evidence to suggest that just a single filter won't be enough, but I choose the belt and braces approach. And FWIW, I use a Coopers fuel filters from Partco. I don't have the part number to hand, but last time I replaced them, they were 11 quid each, complete with -6 fittings in an ally body. Can't go wrong... Quote
Tigger Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Looks like you have another job to do Kevip, I'd wait until you've done the SVA first though unless you fancy ripping you fuel pump out now? Tigger Quote
kevip6 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Ha Ha, I think i will tigger! I don't think they're ever truely finished anyway are they Quote
Graham Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Here is the westfield filter... So presumably, that level of filtration is enough for the Westfield supplied injection pump. Graham. Quote
Sam Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 But i suppose another inline fuel filter would not hurt. More money to spend though!! Sam Quote
Graham Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 It definitely won't hurt, here are mine... Graham. Quote
James Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 It definitely won't hurt, here are mine... Graham. Thats what I used on my injection system not cheap but will do the job! like blaters say's no sence in messing around when your talking £150.00 pump. Quote
Chasmon Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Hi I contacted Glencoe for a quote for a filter-pump-filter-regulator and they came up with an all in price of £248.65 delivered. Bullet A6 filter £52 Pump £120 GM filter £3.82 Adjustable regulator £46.80 Hose & misc £3.20 All minus 10%, thing thaat struck me was how expensive the Bullet filter is. Is this the pre or post pump filter? Surely OEM filters are cheaper an would be suitable? I'm considering using the XJS pump I have in the garage or getting something off a VX, but I want all new filters. What ones do you use Blatters? Cheers C Quote
