RS WST Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Spoke with the organiser of Ten of the Best this week and I can get a small group of Westfields / Fast kit cars to enter the event as long as I can prove they are fast cars with some proof of 1/4 mile or sprint times. Realisticaly I could get 6 if they are all quick. For further details see: Ten of the Best Last years promo vid is on there now, presented by Tim Westwood, (what a prat). The event gets bigger and bigger every year and draws almost 10'000 people, it is televised and appears on a DVD and eventually on Men and Motors Any takers? It would be nice to beat some of the Jap tin tops and take some of the trophy's for the handling and 1/4 mile sprinting. Winning RWD car last year pulled a 10.3 Quarter mile if I remember. Quote
tex Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 has anyone seen those guys yet? - i have been a few years - man they are seriously quick!! there is three events - top speed on the 2 mile strip, 1/4 mile and slalom course. top speed was close on 200mph last year!! one rule is also NO RACE CARS. every car has to be road legal and with tax, road tyres. there was duncan cowpers (spelling)? dax rush few years back - he was pushing 300 bhp or so in a busa - got to around 140 mph.. then aero dynamics took over.. saloons just disappear after that... was a shame really.. loadsa skylines vipers and jap stuff.. was on Sky too.. RS WST Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 Top speed we don't stand a chance but 1/4 mile and handling course we should be able to get a good placement. Quote
V 8 Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Aww 5hit! Fancied a go at that 'till you said road legal Quote
RICHARD+PHILIP Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I'm sure there's a few yellow westfield owners who wouldn't mind lending you a V5 and number plates! Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 ...and lights and a set ot Toyo T1R's Quote
Mrs Westy Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Just enter anyway Tommo, why change the habit of a lifetime Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Heard the handling course was crap last year, just some cones to go back and forwards around, no real fast corners Otherwise could have been interested Quote
simon besant Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Can you run the giggle gas? as we could up the power a bit +50 hp safely will be 400hp now that might help the 1/4 mile and top speed. Might have to turn it off for the handling course though?? well might not!!! Tommo why not road register yours, you could do a valuable service to all and get rid of some of those speed bumps for us Quote
RS WST Posted February 21, 2006 Author Posted February 21, 2006 Nitrous is aloud but you have to be able to prove a fast time in order to enter as spaces are limited to around 150 cars. In previous years there has been some really poor cars enter the event which has been dissappointing. Anything below 300bhp in a tin top is not enough. Most of the tin tops entering are at least 450bhp nowadays which means we need kitcars over the 250bhp mark at least to stand a chance. Also spoke to the Westfield factory and I'm trying to influence them to take there stand to the event. If any of you are seriously interested I need you to provide me with proof of your power or any proven time's and I will forward this on to the orginiser. Quote

We are pleased to announce that The Organisation Ltd will once again be arranging the Trade display areas on our behalf. Contact details for all trade/advertising and sponsorship enquiries listed below. Other planned improvements to the event include further raised grandstand seating areas and the return of the Top speed spectator viewing area which was very popular, accessed via a site bus. The top speed trap will also now be set at a standing mile distance, to utilise a recognised distance for this part of the competition. The event format remains largely the same other than a slight tweak to the points scoring system for the Overall Champion. The Overall Redline TOTB 5 Champion Award will still be based on total points scored from all 3 events (1/4m, handling and Top speed) plus any bonus points gained from the handling or drag shootout finals. We are however instigating a bonus point for competing in all 3 events, plus additional bonus points for anyone who scores overall in all 3 events, which is a fantastic achievement. The drag and handling shootouts will now only attract a single point bonus for the winner, as opposed to the original 3 points given previously. The team trophy is also certain to be highly contested this year, being awarded to the club with the best points total combined from each team member. Crash.net will be supplying a results service to both public and pitlane areas where information can be updated on the event scores and leaderboard. The Closing date for all competitor entries is 2nd July 2006. There will be a further short period for any last minute team changes or for reserves to take up any places that become available. Please note no refunds will be made after 2nd July. No changes will be made to any team sheets after 14th July 2006 when the entry lists become final. Any Traders interested in a display area should contact The Organisation Ltd on: john@the-organisation.org or claire.williams@the-organisation.org Sponsorship and Media Enquiries to Simon Hinshelwood: simonh@bulldoghome.com All event/team or individual Competitor entry enquiries to enquiries@trackdayplus.com Entry forms on website to download from 1st March. Further news and event updates will be sent out monthly to all participating groups, and will be listed on the www.totb.co.uk website. Bye for now The TOTB team End of press release Quote
polly_x Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Count me in. I reckon I can waste most of those Jap rockets down the quarter. Should easily be in the 10's. Wont beat the fastest ones though as a couple of the best Skylines are down to very low 9's and there is at least 2 Imprezas and 2 Mitsu Evos also in the 9's over the quarter. Ive got proven well over 400 horses and constantly working on getting all those on the ground!!!! Quote

As per my first post I am organising the Westfield / Kit car team, if anyone would like to enter you stand a better chance of getting in through me as I know the organiser and he has provisionally offered me spaces for proven quick cars. If anyone would like to enter please download the entry forms, and send them to me at: austen_ward@hotmail.com Mob: 07887 517597 (anytime) If you have any proof of proven times I will also need that to to strengthen your application.
