slippy Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I have done a search with no joy I remeber reading something about Yellow tape on the site a while doing some digging on the Speed Series regs. Where do I put it and what is it for Quote
RICHARD+PHILIP Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Put it on the negative battery lead! It's so Marshells know what lead to cut if your shiney side down in a ditch. Phil Quote
slippy Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 Excellent I reckon that could be the worlds quickest modification Cheers;) Quote
Mid life crisis Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 And don't forget the battery terminal cover. Quote
tex Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 in fact both the leads should be covered up - imagine having a shunt - fuel gets spilt - a battery lead gets crushed against some metal part - spark - bye bye .... Quote
Blatman Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Tape? Nasty sticky stuff that will gunge up the cable and unwrap itself and fall off once the going gets hot. I used some nice yellow heatshrink... Quote
slippy Posted February 6, 2006 Author Posted February 6, 2006 Good idea but how do you get it over the fat end Quote
Blatman Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Er, it stretches a little too. I had no problems getting heatshrink over the fat end... Quote
slippy Posted February 6, 2006 Author Posted February 6, 2006 Next question where from and do you have any pics of were you stuck it over the fat end Quote
Blatman Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 I got my heatshrink from RS. They do bags of different colour, different sized heatshrink which has come in quite handy over the years. It's an expensive way to do one job, but it's one of those things I like to have in stock and I dip in to it every now and then so it works out for me. I'm sure your local lecky shop will have some too. I covered the first 6" of cable from battery terminal ring. Slipped the heatshrink over, held it in place, applied heat from a heat gun (*not* a hairdryer) and 60 seconds later, a nice bright yellow sleeve on me battery neg cable. Neater than tape, and no chance of the glue melting... Quote
slippy Posted February 6, 2006 Author Posted February 6, 2006 Sw**key, I might have to tap one of the sparkies that goes in my local Quote
