west2.1 Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Hi Std 2.0 pinto with fr32 cam and luminition ignition, type 9 g/box, what power can i expect? just interested! Thanks Quote
bultacobarry Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Read David Vizards book or check out puma racing racing website. Pinto power is all about valve train geometry and port design. My experience with the car I bought fitted with a '150bhp' 2.1pinto Stage 1 105 bhp (piper 285 cam & twin 45's) Valve size unknown but presumned standard. Stage 2 Fit proper dizzy, Lumentation system & vernier cam wheel. Setup timing/cam timing & jetting on rolling road. No internal work at all. 130 bhp. Stage 3 I have commisioned a guy who builds a lot of the local pinto stock cars to build me a new flowbenched head using group 1 valves and a kent RC1 cam. Should be on the rolling road in late feb, hoping for around 160bhp at the flywheel. We shall see ?? Quote
karlgurney Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Current spec of mine, Stage 3 big valve head, 44.5mm inlets 38 exhaust piper 270 cam, twin 45's BHP Not sure but its bl**** quick!!! Quote
Liam Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 2.1 Vulcan; Lumenition; Vulcan maxiflow head; FR32; 45's with 36mm chokes, 140 mains, 155 air, ign 31 @4500, cam +2 = 159bhp @6044 and 144.2 lb ft @5290. Measured on Northants Motorsport dyno last week. it is too Quote
west2.1 Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 Standard carb or webers? Hi, forgot to mention, Dellorto 40,s good point! Cheers, Paul Quote
Bob Green Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Hi, forgot to mention, Dellorto 40,s good point! For up to 150bhp, correctly jetted 40's will be fine for the Pinto but if you are looking for over 150bhp, 45's are the way forward. Quote
James Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 My old SE had good head work done by ferriday and standard cams with 40's that produced 153BHP quite respectable for a standard engine a freind had a 2.1 flowed head with pipper cams (Cant remember wich ones) and 45's and that only produced 148BHP (same rolling road) some times simpler is better.
