Spire Posted December 31, 2005 Share Posted December 31, 2005 Bought a MK1/2 quick rack off Ebay. It came the other day, good condition so I cleaned it up painted it and fitted new rubber gaiters. Bought some new track rod ends and fitted rack. Came to connect track rods to rack, different thread. Rack is 1/2 UNF rod ends are 14mm. Took the rod ends back to see if they gave me the wrong ones. It appears I have a RS Escort rack so bought new rod ends with correct thread now the taper is different size and will not fit the Cortina upright. Question is, are there any rod ends with a 1/2 UNF thread with a larger taper to fit Cortina upright? At the moment I am thinking of making two inserts to fit in the upright to match the taper size of the track rod ends. Any other suggestions if no other rod ends available.
