PapaLazarou Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 ... or you could buy a pair of these and still have change from 200 quid... Quote
Guest Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 why would you want some? I had some for a while, got them from sovietbazaar.co.uk so you could try them, be careful how u type it coz sovietbizarre is something completely different Quote
karlgurney Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I've no idea where to get them but i've had a go of a set that the tonka pilots used for night flying, bl**** amazing pitch black couldn't see my hand infront of my face, look through the goggles and i could see the bats flying around infront of me, really weird. Once heard a "story" not sure how true, about a couple of fast jet pilots that took there new car down the M1 flat out at night with the lights turned off. Quote
StuartMackay Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Be careful of any oncoming vehicles with their headlights on!! It 'll blind you!! Quote

IIRC it was a couple of Harrier pilots from Wittering up the A1, but i could be wrong. Actually, i was the Night Vision pool champion in RAF Leeming Avionics Bay..............sonetimes the nightshift got a bit boring Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 As something of an aside, but possibly relevant, I recall seeing a website a while ago where a company in Park House Greenhill Crescent Watford were offering optical products from MoD surplus. They had image stabilising binoculars for silly (cheap) prices but they might not work! Can't recall the site name though Quote
Darren B Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Unfortunatley the proper Tornado ones are about 15 grand a pop. At least that's what we got told when we had to hand carry them to the training course. Mind you low flying at night is a eye opener, especially when you look under the goggles and can't see a thing outside. Quote
karlgurney Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 How did it feel having explosives strapped to your head Quote
pistonbroke Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 There are plenty of "cheap and nasty " ones available But they really arn't worth a light Quote
