Boomy Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Suites that really well. GT40 colour scheme if i'm not mistaken. Quote
scott beeland Posted December 9, 2005 Author Posted December 9, 2005 A few more pics of this car added to my gallery site Quote
davidgh Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Gulf Porche I think just Gulf Racing....... From memory, I think Jacky Ickx took the closest ever Le Mans victory (between competing cars) in the GT40. Quote
Steve R Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Yay, my car is famous! Not everybody has been so keen on the colour scheme I've chosen, but at least it's different on a Westy! Managed to persuade the factory to do the tub in powder blue gelcoat so there was no spraying needed, just a few stickers (cheers Rob, I owe you beer). I tried the more conventional yellow last time, hopefully this won't attract as many flies over the summer Steve. Quote
Charlie - Yorksboys. Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Great colour scheme, - must be unique!! Quote
Jenko Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Love the colour.......Was that actually done in the Gel coat?. Or is it sprayed on?....Either way, I think it looks fantastic, and different. Nice one. Paul. Quote
Steve R Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Yep, no spraying. Tub etc is all in powder blue gelcoat (a factory colour option a while back), arches in orange gelcoat. The stripe is orange vinyl with 5mm navy blue border. Took some fitting around the curves, but nicking the other half's hairdryer soon did the trick! Quote

Thanks for that, i thought i was going mad as i could of sworn i had seen the GT40 in them colours.I was putting it all down to old age when your pic appeared and saved the day : p << ponders what a set of deep dished orange coloured rims would look like on it (see gt40 pic) Quote
Bananaman Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I like it........... BUt i fancy something a bit more like this... I wonder if it could be done in vinyl Quote
Steve R Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 If I had to get it sprayed I would have gone for exactly that. With the vinyl it was enough of an getting the stripe to follow the curve on the tip of the nose, so I doubt that it could be done easily in vinyl without making a mess of it. I may get it sprayed in the future though... Anyone know where I can get a couple of Gulf logos from?? Quote
