1996 - H Reg Rover 416GTi - Great car. Lots of toys, built by Honda and revved into the middle of next week. Crap brakes turned into popadoms at even the thought of stopping in a hurry and viscious lift off over steer. Yes, I did find out... <!--emo&

Sounds very much like the Rover 216GTi that i had, including the lift off over steer.......

Did you wrap yours round anything? I lost it on a wet roundabout, and had nearly collected it when I ran out of road a smacked the central reservation. Problem was I still had a good dose of oppostie lock on when it hit the barrier and it bent the rack as it came out of the case and bent all the rear suspension...

It would have been a certain write off if it had gone through the insurance company, beause Rover wanted ~£575 +vat for a new rack!

I like the exxie.  She isn't powerful but she is nimble although the suspension could do with a bit of work on it to reduce the roll but she is a tourer rather than a track car.

At the moment the missus and I have a rear wheel drive/front engine car (westie), mid engined (x-1/9), 4x4 (softroader) and FWD/front engine(primera) and surprisingly you do change your driving style between each.  I guess I need a porker now for the rear engine car.

I had one in the early 90s  In its day I thought it was the dogs danglies , roof off in the summer was   even back then  the body was like a bag of crisps and I spent hours welding it up , making door bottoms and wheel arches, I worked at a Fiat garage and the bits were a fortune for them .. gear synchros were a problem also..

me and the missus slept in it one weekend , must have been mad  :p

PS.

rear engine rwd  :t-up:

C reg polo 1.05 - thrashed it for 40k then the rust killed it.

l reg cav 1.8i, cooked the breaks all the time, span it on a roundabout, crashed it into a mgf and drove it for 3 years with a dent in the rear quarter and bent rear beam (improved the handling on right hand corners)
