Martin Keene Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 1995 - F Reg Escort 1.4L. Paid £2k for it and spent the next year adding bits of stereo to it and ended up with a sytem in it worth more than the car... 1996 - H Reg Rover 416GTi - Great car. Lots of toys, built by Honda and revved into the middle of next week. Crap brakes turned into popadoms at even the thought of stopping in a hurry and viscious lift off over steer. Yes, I did find out... 2000 - P Reg Astra 2.0 16v Sport. Shocking Engineering, the Tesco Value of cars. Crashed into the back of a Fiat Uno that was stationary in the fast lane... at night... with no lights on... not even hazards... Best thing that ever happened to it... 2003 - X Reg Civic 1.8 VTi. Stunning Engine, 167bhp @ 7500rpm, red lined at 8000, but would happily rev to 8400! Superb brakes to, shared with the NSX!!! The rest of the car never really lived up to it though. Always felt like it was keeping a secert from you... 2005 - Y Reg Octavia vRS. Proper car. Quick, quite, comfortable, s**t load of torque low down where you need it. No more of these diesel drivers pulling a few yards out of you on roundabout exits... Quote

gadrego Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Sounds very much like the Rover 216GTi that i had, including the lift off over steer....... Funny that. My 220GTi was probably the hairiest car to drive fast than anything I've ever been in. The lift off oversteer was shocking. I spun it on a slip road once, and when my mate borrowed it, he nearly spun on the very first corner he went round. Thought it was just poor tyres and poor drivers at the time. Quote
