ljsanders Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 Crickey, the insurance company (Highway Insurance, thru Adrian Flux) like moving things very quickly. I posted the MOT and V5 off to them on Monday, I receive a letter this morning offering me 6k for the car. The letter also said the cheque is going to be with me very shortly. Thats less than 2 weeks from accident to payout. I called them to confirm that the 6k they are offering me is ON TOP of the money they are paying out for recovery charge at the time of the accident, storage at the garage and the repair to the crash barrier. Indeed it is... I then enquired about where the car is right now, they then told me they collected the vehicle from garage on Nov.30th, thats the day afterr I went there to fetch my tax disc and take the photos. Damn good job I went there when I did! Apparently the car is now sitting in a salvage depot somewhere in the bowels of Essex. Anyway, 6k minus 100 for the excess as a first offer, I'm pretty happy with that. I was going to put it up for sale in the spring for around the 6k mark. Spec: Built in 1999, Wide-bodied SEI, 1600 CVH (standard), Spax suspension (independent rear), front arb, standard roll bar, with tonneau and weather gear. TBH, I would ask them how much they wanted for the remains (probably been vultured by now), so I can see if I can make a profit on the bits, but I dont fancy oil all over my garage floor. I have got a weather roof though.... not support bars though as they are still on the car, I reckon thats got to be worth a fair bit. How much you reckon? The roof was useless anyway, I think I only ever used it once. Plan is now to look for another car! Quote
pistonbroke Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Sounds like you got a good deal I too have just dealt with highway insurance . very effecient and friendly, although in my case I have claimed against there insured party , they were still very prompt , which came as a suprise . I was expecting the usual grief , arguments , loss- adjusters etc. Quote
oioi Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 good to hear your sorted and to your happiness interesting to hear a good report about flux. lots of people slate them, though personally i have no issues with them and been insured with them for a few years. (do a search on blatchat for "fluax AND sucks") Quote
ljsanders Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 Sorry about posting twice (see above)... network link stitched up and then gave an error whilst I was posting the first time, seemed like it had already posted. I too had heard bad things about Flux, my insurance docs said I should deal with Highway directly and not go through Adrian Flux, thats probably partly why it has gone so smoothly! Also because there wasn't a third party involved (other than the crash barrier!, there was no legal faffing about with who was to blame. ie. no soliictors taking their time to reply to letters. In my case, there wasn't any doubt as to who to blame! Quote

Paul M Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 You did well. I had a kid in a Nova reverse out of her drive straight into me in April, wrote my tin top off and I didn't get paid out 'till August. Quote
