daverobs Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Glad you are OK. I know how easily it can be done. As a bit of feedback after my accident on 23/10/05 - Footman James Claims Dept have been marvellous. NIG Insurers, Adams Assessors and Hewitts Salvage Brokers have made what could have been a stressful situation very easy. The car is a total loss - ordered a new starter kit last Saturday. Having a nice shiny black one(yellow is very common), silver epxoy finish on the chassis, wide track and ARBs etc etc. As pointed out watch for the vultures, I lost twin Webbers, airfilter, ECU and loom and more damage than I caused. Hope you get sorted Dave Roberts Quote
potster Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Sorry to say it but I'd agree that the car is a write off. Cocopops had a little bump that damaged the rear arch see HERE His car was only a year or so old and got written off. This may differ with your insurance Co though!? Hope everything works out ok for you! Quote

ljsanders Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 I do have a sense of humour :-) I've got a full roof cover in my garage, if anyone wants it? When I know what the insurers going to do with the car I'll let you know. Also if they make me an offer to buy the car back at some ridiculously cheap price... I could probably make quite a bit of money on it. As I say, when I know whats happening, I'll let you know. Not sure how long these things take? Its the first car in 11yrs of driving I've had thats needed to be written off. In fact, its my first fault claim ever. Quote

Mark19800_0 Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Sanders, Sorry to hear about the accident :-( Try Mike Ellis at AutoPro, i know he's reasonably priced and have seen him doing insurance jobs before. He recently had a Westy which needed a whole new front end fitting, which the factory did and then he rebuilt it. AutoPro Just a suggestion Quote

CocoPops Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Did it get repaired, or not? Andy No, It got CAT C written off Got repaired by someone that bought it at auction, then he sold it on to a guy that called me last week asking for history... the buyer didn't know it was written off Quote
adhawkins Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Ah yes, I remember you mentioning that now... Andy Quote
jeff oakley Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Glad you are okay but that car is a write off for sure. What you need to do is get as many adverts for similar cars because they will offer you a low figure to start, even though cocopops was two week old with every recipt to show value he still had to argue to get a true figure from them. Remember they want to save money so be prepared for an offer probably half what you value it at. You guess £6k they will start around £4k if you are lucky, don't loose your nerve and don't talk salvage until you know what the outright offer is first then you can workout the best deal for you. Good luck Quote
