Poz Posted November 16, 2005 Author Posted November 16, 2005 Still undecided!! whats the saab 9-3 like? Thinking the 1.9 TDI Vector 150bhp Quote
Eastern_Westie Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Have the vRS and then get it chipped. I've got an Audi S3, and it's chipped to 265bhp - makes one hell of a difference, and I'm still getting an average 31.5mpg!! Quote
Martin Keene Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 A vRS will need more than chipping to get to 265bhp. The S3 had the 225bhp engine with the big turbo, and I believe the smaller turbo fitted to the 180bhp engine runs out of puff at 240. Quote
Eastern_Westie Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Mine was the 215bhp unit originally, but you're right, the vRS won't make 265, but it will get a healthy increase in power and torque..... Quote
little ed Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 hi poz congrats on the promotion. I thinkl the VRS is a good choice. The westy is going well ive fitted an RAC rollbar, side screens and ive just had a custom made tonneu fitted. Its all good just need to take it to a rolling road as its a bit jerky when you put your foot down, any ideas or tips for it? Good to see you on the forum again. Good luck with the company car ED Quote
peterg Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 don't get a Saab and especially DON'T GET A DIESEL SAAB! unless you want to understeer off every roundabout Quote
predawson Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Has it got to be new? If so, a 3 series will be out of budget. How about an Octavia? Congratulations on the promotion Yep, agree with Octavia. I got a fully spec'd version with full leather and all the trimmings for the price of a 1.6 Cr*p spec focus. No contest. Quote

Nice thought provided you won't be paying company car tax which is based on emissions. Quote

Jabba Sport quote 225 and about the same for torque which is a useful 45bhp & 55lb/ft... Not bad for £475! Although one guy on a Skoda forum had his done the other week, running 99 octance Tesco unleaded and got 24o... Jabba are investigating! Quote
simon caton Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 i see that 1 or 2 posts suggested the Audi A4 avant 130. Anyone had one and, what did you think as i'm thinking of getting one in the near future. Any problems and how were the running costs Simon Quote
Peter Cox Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 SEAT LEON FR. With full "R" bodykit, wheels and smartnav if you register by 31/12 (I think). I am currently eating Saabs for breakfast. Editted to say eating Saabs for breakfast, eyes on stalks watching the bridges on my commute and still doing over 40mpg on average (so the trip says). Quote

Any problems and how were the running costs Simon sold loads of em , very good driving car, 50+mpg and quick with it, build quality above BMW.. Audi sport model has lesser spec but better handling and feels a better drive.. only similar estate I would have over an A4 is a 330d Bmw but you get much more Audi for your pound. imo they are very good value for money at the moment. Rattly Dual mass flywheel and the odd electrical fault are the only faults ive seen , the only downside to Audi A4 is internal space , theres not a right lot of rear passenger legroom although slightly more in comparison to the previous model. A6 is bigger , better and also cheaper .. Quote

A standard chip takes it to 212bhp... (www.upsolute.com) Before:180 hp After: 212 hp Before: Torque (ft/lb) 173 ft/lb After: 218 ft/lb Max Speed 147 mph (235 km/h) After: 153 mph (245 km/h) All this for £305 ............... Quote
Poz Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 Hi Ed! Glad to hear you're enjoying it! Not sure about the jerkyness mate (sorry!. Perhaps a good rolling road will sort it as you say! Not seen you about in it yet - thought I might seeing as I work just down the road. Do you use it much? Back to the new motor - The boss wont go for the Vrs option so I've found an Audi A4 1.9 TDi 130 sport - HERE Its done 24500 miles - What do you guys think? Quote
