Martin Keene Posted October 14, 2005 Author Posted October 14, 2005 Can I just say how Gentlemanly this is being discussed. I though about this post for a good 12-15 hours before posting it, because I was unsure how people would response to it. Thanks for discussing so reasonably. I don't mean to sound partronising or anything, but we have had a few topics go off course lately due to mis-understandings.
Martin Keene Posted October 14, 2005 Author Posted October 14, 2005 oops, submitted a null vote That's your choice. I said at the start please don't vote if you don't want to. I appreciate a lot of people won't want to vote. It's just a broadbrush exercise. No, I meant I was going to vote but hit the wrong button Doh! Glad I'm not the only one...
Mark Stanton Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Seems irrelevant poll to me as someone on less than 15K a year can have more disposable income available to purchase cars, skid lids etc than someone else who earns more than 50K Surely depends on other financial commitments

michaelcoombs Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Weems irrelevant poll to me as someone on less than 15K a year can have more disposable income available to purchase cars, skid lids etc than someone else who earns more than 50K Surely depends on other financial commitments yep... but posting here is better than doing some work... maybe that why earn what i earn
steve_m Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Sometimes I do wonder if all the extra money I spent on my car, say 40% over and above what I would have had to spend to get a reasonably basic CEC (for the sake or argument) has given me 40% more pleasure ? I suspect not and I often wonder if I would enjoy rebuilding an old, slower kit just as much
MAT1800 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I agree though.... Weems are irrelevant. *** Nice bit of editing....they're even more irrelevant now! ***
Peter Cox Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I agree though.... Weems are irrelevant. Personally, it's new to me as well. But I think it's a verb, not a noun.
Bean Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I'm guessing there won't be many cateringvan owners in the lower half of the income bracket, I'm lucky enough to be in one of the higher brackets but still couldn't justify the extra money just because they own the Lotus rights. Another can of worms opened
a4gom Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 [paranoid mode on] are you sure your not working for my wife, her P.I. or solicitor, it does seem a coinsidence that she's been asking questions this week about how much I earn and how much of it goes into the garage rather than the family. [paranoid mode off]

In fact I might do that later. Still, kinda of interesting to see the spread of earnings across the group though. Or maybe I'm just a nosey git...
MAT1800 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Funny timing this.... Just had a meeting with a guy about something or other.... anyway we were talkin about golf, boats and cars, I mentioned I had just finished building a Westfield, to which he replied he was getting a Cateringvan..... So I asked what had made him go for a Cateringvan rather than another make, his answer was he liked to go fast. ie. He probably hadn't checked out the alternatives, he just presumed it would be better because it costs more? Money does funny things to people, and some people like to talk about it far too much IMO. And I don't mean you Martin Mat.
Blatman Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Still, kinda of interesting to see the spread of earnings across the group though. Or maybe I'm just a nosey git... Or gullible. You're assuming people are voting honestly, despite knowing that we're an irreverent bunch at the best of times. And no, I haven't voted...
felters Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I admit to being immensely wealthy, young, good looking and having a todger the size of a salami. Luckily most of you have never met me...
