Guys

I’ve seen an advert on eBay for wind deflectors which attach to the STD door mounts on the windscreen.  Now I can’t find the advert, but they were curved to follow the profile of the body and cost about £40.

Do they work and are they worth the money?  How do they compare with STD doors?  Any opinions from anyone who already has them?

:)

I know the ones you mean the picture is taken on a light blue Westy bonnet I've seen them advertised. I have a couple of pairs that work fine a dam sight cheaper than the doors and you till get the doors off sensation with out going blind about 50 mph £40 seems a wee bit steep like but I suppose it depends how much work has gone into espacially as you say the are contoured

I've got a pair of the Unoplas Polycarbonate ones, absolutely brialliant. Cost £48 2 yrs ago. Sold my sidescreens straight after using them for the first time.

I made these from 6mm acrylic (Perspex). They are somewhat better than nothing and less good than sidescreens. With nothing, the loose ends of my four point straps slap me around like a cuckolded wife, scream.jpg but with the deflectors I am left un-smacked! :D

I have some, got them made for me, they are great, I carry my hood but no doors, I came home from harewood at the weeknd in terrential rain with hood and deflectors and I can honestly say that if I had my doors on I would have been wetter not dryer.

I was told last week there are 2 people selling them on ebay, one will sell to wscc members for about £20, can't remember who it was who told me though.

Don't forget none of them include the hinges so they will need to be budgeted for. If you are buying 2nd hand as well not all hinges are in the same place / at the same centres so you may end up with some extra holes.

Andy

If you can remember who is doing the deflectors for £20 would be good because £50 + packing + hinges is a bit pricey!!

Maybe you could make a couple of quid and get five sets made and sold to members???

Glad to hear they work so well..I've been considering them for a while

Cheers

Andy are your's the John Moore (Unoplas) ones?

How fast can you go with these and the hood up before the hood takes off? :p

I have the John Moore type and they are brilliant. The ones pictured are slightly different to the ones I have, Cocopops had some as pictured on his car and he claimed they were nowhere near as good as mine were at speed. They sit firm at speeds in excess of 100mph and you can breath and speak no problems at all.

You sure 'cos the John Moore ones don't look as good?

I just fitted the e-bay type to my SE this evening...... as I am 6ft / 17st am at the upper limit of fitting into a narrow body car......I can report good improvement...I can now breath over 70 mph and my eye balls dont seem to be bouncing about as much.

However have seen much larger type at club meets with more shape etc.....whilst i can not admit to seeing anybody smoking a hamlet at 100mph with these they do seem to fit/hug body better, and would suggest better deflections.

Main thing is am happy with mine.!!!;)???
