Barnster
Hi All, my daily message! I've finally got around to fitting the suspension components to my 1800i. However, I have a question. There seems to be some confusion within the manual with text saying use 4 large washers and a diagram showing 5 washers at the bottom of the rear upright. To cut a long story short I have used the large washers against bolthead and small washers between rose joint, upright, against the bolthead inside the uprights. Can anyone advise if this is OK. The second question is regarding the RH upright - I cannot get any washers to fit inside it as the casting recess is not deep enough. Any suggestions as I don't really want to start grinding things! Eccentric_Rich
Sounds fine, the large washer is used on the outside of the rose joint to prevent the suspension from collapsing if the rose joint bearing fails. Can you file the outside diameter of a washer down slightly to fit inside the RH upright? You need to fit a washer on both sides to prevent the steel bolt and rose joint wearing away the soft aluminium. Richard.

pgh
If you have the golf brake compatible uprights then you should also have some yellow passivated bars that pass through the bottom of the upright. Westfield supply these due to the casting error you've noticed. Use the bars & you don't need the washers on the inside of the upright...
