Major Stare Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Barry With your consent I'll email Richard Hammond a link to this thread... with 120 bhp more than Clarkson's GT40 and less than half the weight this is just the the sort of thing that would REALLY p*** off JC especially as he wouldn't be able to fit in it And I'd love to see just how long the lap would take oooh, yes, let Stig have a go and see what happens Lovely car, well done Quote

No probs Thanks for all the nice comments Barry I hope you have at least 1 extra set of rear tires..er, tyres waiting for you on the USA2005 Tour I'm looking forward to seeing this beast in person in September! Cheers John nice website are you doing the whole tour or joining us foe a bit. See you next month! Quote
SteveF Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Barry - noticed from one of your pictures that you'd removed the crossmember at the top/front of the transmission tunnel (also no lower hoop?) - have you put in a removable brace - or stiffened it up elsewhere to compensate. Interested to know - as I may have to do this for my project. Cheers Steve Quote
JohnCh Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Cheers John nice website are you doing the whole tour or joining us foe a bit. See you next month! Thanks Barry, but the site is waaaay out of date. I need to spend some time uploading all the new content I wrote about the rebuild. We're joining the tour in Durango and staying with it until the end. According to MapPoint, that's a 4000 mile round trip for us. I'm not sure my wife really understands what she has gotten herself into -John Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted August 9, 2005 Author Posted August 9, 2005 that you'd removed the crossmember at the top/front of the transmission tunnel The cross member was removed to make the fitting of the gearbox easier when it was all in I rewelded the crossmember back in albeit 25mm further back to alloy the bellhousing to fit. The hoop underneath has not be refitted and probably will not although I still have it somewhere (I think) Barry Quote
