John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Apparently they are changing Angelesy ty Croes circuit after this year. The new layout can be seen here I love the old circuit as it is and although excited by the new development, I cant help feeling that this will be a backward step somehow? What do others think? adhawkins Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I read about this in Circuit Driver a few months back, think there was some discussion on here too. I've only driven it once myself, but have to agree it was a great track in a 7. Losing School would be a blow, that's an excellent corner. Andy Quote
ACW Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Theh have been discussing this for as long as I can remember going to Ty Croes. They wanted to get the track away from the neighbours and set up as a full on circuit. I think it is a shame only becuase: a. I'm ultra conservative and hate change b. I know and love the old layout and format and clubiness of the track c. Making it into a full blown track will no doubt reduce its availability to club motorsport and track days. Quote
Bananaman Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 While I agree with what's been said This is going to happen and I hope that the new track is as good if not better than the old one. Looking at it from an optomistic point of view. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Why not wait and see what actually happens before knocking it You pessimists might be right or it might turn out to be the best thing since Cadwell and Knockhill Who knows More and more circuits are being made open to Sprints and club motorsport - e.g. Snetterton and there's been talk about something at Brands at some time in the future Ty Croes would be cutting their nose off by not looking at club motorsport The new layout takes it away from the ole that's complaining about the noise Quote
Gazza Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Its a favourite track for sure, but.... I'm with the Chairman of the Board on this one: lets wait and see. For example the long section on the rhs of the new layout seems to run along the clifftop and dips down to 'School' with a bit of a kink, looking not unlike a mini Eau Rouge Quote
Blatman Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Never been to Anglesey... yet. So from the armchair... New layout is obviously longer and gives more options for alternative layouts than the old circuit appears to. If they get a licence to run both ways, they'll have *lots* of exciting options to look at. I think it will be very good... FWIW [/armchair warrior] Quote
Frau Vesty Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 The new layout takes it away from the ole that's complaining about the noise ...which has sent my brain onto a tangent... Whatever happened in the Castle Combe appeal about their noise notice? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Apparently the new Ty Croes layout could give as many as 4 licensed layouts for events Castle Combe Quote
Frau Vesty Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Dare I say it? Tried that, didn't find the answer Quote
adhawkins Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Never been to Anglesey... yet. Does the 'yet' mean you'll be going this year? If you've never been, shame on you. By all accounts, one of the truly great tracks to drive in a 7. Andy Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 New layout looks good, but I will miss School, real Titanium balls corner Quote
