S8ight Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 BTW the browning cynergy is a great little light weight gun ideal for sporting clays etc. How little is the lad? 20 or 12 gauge in mind? its a bl**** good gun for starting with but maybe a little too good. ( and expensive ) Look at the Beretta's too, the white onyx is a good gun, can highly recommend the Beretta's always done me in good stead... hes just turned 8. had his first 1/2 hour with a 410, got 16 out of 25 clays. the next time they put him straight onto a 20, 18 out of 25 clays was looking to get him a Beretta but the cynergy gets a good report, most say its got about 20% less recoil than a normal 12 bore. only 2" longer barrel than hes using at the moment, dont mind cutting the stock down. was thinking about the cynergy composite, but need to find out how it compares to a 20. can get them in the states for $1600, so not a bad price Quote
S8ight Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 ps you can all carry on talking about rod stewart now, you bunch of old arses Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 ps you can all carry on talking about rod stewart now, you bunch of old arses Ok then As they have already said the original was by Roy C, and I've got it on vinyl Quote

I used to love using a 20 as much as a 12..... could miss as well with either Stick with the 20g for a while and get him really good on that before progressing to 12g. ( i used a 20 for about 7yrs) A larger cartridge does'nt mean a better chance of a hit, especially for a newbie. my sugestion would be get him along to a proper gunsmiths and if possible try out as many as you can, your local clay club should have a varied usage of guns and I would expect evryone be more than willing to advise/encourage the liittle 'un. How a gun fits and feels is the most important thing get some good advice.... mmm the memories of many sore shoulders Either manufacteur is as good as each other in my opinion, just always found the berrera's a sure bet. Mine is made well, shoots well and as comfortable as a non custom gun gets. Good luck and its good to see the youngsters being brought into the sport. Quote
Stuart Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 As they have already said the original was by Roy C, and I've got it on vinyl So have I Quote
S8ight Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 browning dont list the cynergy in a 20, if they did it would be no contest. thats why in need to find out if its going to have too much of a kick for him and he cant really try a standard one as the stock will be a bit too big. plan on cutting one down to fit him Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 the walnut stocked gun is actually lighter than the compositehere Quote

Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 looking for a gun for my little lad I personally find a GPMG with about half a dozen 200 round belts linked together pretty good for most targets Quote

jonlewis Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 For 1500 I would want someone to shoot it for me... Quote
markg Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 i had a medallist 20 bore , decent enough gun for a young lad but cheaper, my ex used to shoot with it, when she b*******ed off i swapped it for a very nice voere .270 my work shotgun is an old baikal over and under, i have rowed a boat with it when the motor packed up, its a bit battered but still shoots well Quote
